To those who face their fears with courage,
and to those who inspire others to shine.
May you always find the light within you.

Selene was the Greek goddess of the moon. She lived high up in the sky and shone her soft light over the earth every night. People admired her for her kindness and wisdom. However, Selene was also very shy. Each night, she would rise into the sky, but sometimes she felt scared. The dark, empty space around her made her feel a little lonely and nervous.

One evening, a dark, stormy cloud appeared in the sky. It was much darker than usual, and it blocked Selene’s moonlight.

The people on Earth were frightened. Without the moonlight, they could not see anything. The world felt much scarier and darker than before.

Where is the moon? It's so dark tonight, I can't see anything!
I don't like this. Without the moonlight, the world feels so much scarier. We need her light!

The people called out to Selene, hoping she would bring back the light. They knew she had the power to clear the skies, but Selene was afraid.

Selene, please! We need your light to guide us through the dark!
We know you have the power, Selene. Don’t be afraid. The world is waiting for you.

People called me, but what if the storm is too strong for me to stop?
*scared

Athena, the goddess of wisdom and courage, Selene’s sister, appeared beside her. She saw her worry and smiled warmly.

Selene, what’s wrong? The people below call you.
I’m scared, Athena. The storm is too storng.

Athena reminded Selene that even though the storm was frightening, the moonlight had the power to guide people safely through the night.

Selene, you are stronger than you think. You have the power of the moon, which is always brighter than darkness. Don’t let fear control you.
You’ve faced the darkness before, I trust you, the people on earth trust you.

With Athena’s encouragement, Selene gathered her courage. She rose higher into the sky, her heart racing.
Right, I am Selene, and I am the moon, I am not afraid of the dark.
