My name is Elisha Fuller. I am 22 years old. I am a first-generation college student. I am a senior in the BSW program at The University of Southern Mississippi. I will graduate in May of 2025. My name is Ethan Suttles and I am a senior at USM. I will be graduating in May 2025 with my social work degree. I hope to use it to work with children who have to interact with the foster care system. I would also like to be a foster dad to provide some love and comfort for kids who may need it.
Hi! My name is Arianna McCray and I am a student at the University of Southern Mississippi. I hope that my future leads me to work with children and help them process hard times.

Wren loves Grandma. They have been best friends forever. Even though Grandma has been getting older, they still do all their favorite things together. When Wren goes to visit her grandparents, she and Grandma will draw and color. They will bake cookies for everybody.
What is your favorite thing to do with your grandparent?

Best of all, they look at the stars when it gets dark!

One day, Wren had a great time at school, but something was different when she got
home. Both her parents were waiting for her and they looked sad.

“Wren,” Mama said, “I have some really sad news. Grandma passed away today.” Dad had been crying. Now Wren wanted to cry, too.

She did not start crying, though. She was scared for Grandpa. “So that means Grandma
died? If death got Grandma, is it coming for Grandpa now?”

Dad held Wren’s hand. “We never know when death is coming for somebody. Your Grandma has been getting weaker for a while. Grandpa moves around just fine, so we should not worry about that right now.”

Wren moved to her next question. “When my friend lost her grandma, she talked about
coping. When do we cope with Grandma being gone? Is Grandpa going to cope?”

Mama and Dad looked surprised. Mama answered, “It is so sweet you are worried about
Grandpa sweetie! Coping does not have a set time it happens, it is how we handle losing
people and things.”

Dad continued, “ Wren, it is something we will have to do. You too. Over time we
will do things that help us with our grief.” This gave Wren her last question. “Can we go be with Grandpa so he is not alone with his grief?”

Mama and Dad packed some clothes and food. Wren packed her favorite activities.

After getting into the car, they were on there way to spend the night with Grandpa.
What song reminds you of your grandparent?

Once they got there, Grandpa smiled at everybody. Wren could see that it was a sad smile.

After getting comfortable, Wren and Grandpa drew and colored together.
