
- First Trimester (1-3 weeks)
- Fertilization- The male's sperm and the woman's ovum/egg come together either letting 2 sperm into the egg (resulting in Identical twins)or just one sperm (resulting in one baby). Or maybe 2 eggs get released and you can have fraternal twins.
- If you are on birth control it can help with the release of eggs from the women so no egg gets released so the fertilization process cannot happen. Therefore, no baby at all.
- Healthy Pregnancy Practices - When you're pregnant you want to begin to or continue to exercise, and make sure that you're getting the right amount of vitamins
- Birth Defects - At this point of pregnancy is when your baby is most likely to begin to develop a birth defect, Such as clubfoot where the baby's foot is pointed in and down, cleft lip opening or split in the upper lip that doesn't close fully, or microcephaly a rare neurological condition in which an infant's head is much smaller than the heads of other children of the same age.
Fertilization/Conception
and First Month
- Heredity/Genetics Concepts—In the first month, your baby starts to develop a primitive face with large dark circles around the eyes. At this point, the doctor still has no way of knowing how your baby looks. Your baby is also around 6-7mm in length.
- What to do and, What not to do - Do's: Getting prenatal care and maintaining your health, rest, and mental health. Dont's: drinking alcohol, smoking, using drugs, eating dangerous foods, and engaging in risky behaviors.
- Birth Options - During this time you may want to think about who you want with you when you're giving birth. What you want your surroundings to look like?
Where you want to go? And things regarding that.
You still have 9 months so this isn't main priority at this stage.
- Stages of labor - Signs: Lightening, the change of the
positon of the baby as it lowers down and positions itself
lower in the pelvis. While, releving abdominal pressure on the mother.

Second Month
- First Trimester (5-weeks)
- Heredity/Genetics Concepts - In the second month your
baby is forming tiny buds that eventually grow into arms
and legs, and the neural tube (brain, spinal cord, and other
neural tissue of the central nervous system) is well formed.
- What to do, and What not to do - Do's: focus on taking good care of your changing body. Eat healthy foods, stay active, drink plenty of water, and a lot of rest. Dont's: Stay away from alcohol, smoking, drugs, and other risky activities.
- Healthy pregnancy habits - At the second month some healthy pregnancy habits will be Take care of your emotional health, Stay active, and healthy food choices.

- Highlights of the First Trimester -during this time your body is going through a tremendous amount of change and needs to take a second to adjust. During the first trimester time span you may experience having pregnancy hormones, extreme fatigue, nausea and vomiting, tender breasts, and the frequent need to pee.
- Birth options - Start thinking about where you want to deliver, what doctor you want to deliver, so then you can start to have an understanding of who the doctors ara and the staff that will be around while you are in the childbirth stage of pregnancy.
- Stages of labor - More signs: contractions. Contractions being as weak cramps and then as you progress in your labor they incress gradually on the pain scale and becoming more frequent.
Third Month
- First Trimester (9-11 weeks)
- Heredity/Genetics concepts - Your fetus will develop distinct facial
features such as, limbs, organs, bones and muscles.
- What to do and What not to do - Do's: At this point in pregnancy you
may want to talk with your doctor about an exercise routine that's not
only safe at this point in your pregnancy but for your baby too. Dont's: Too much caffeine, and Hot tubs, saunas, and things that may cause you to overheat.
- Healthy pregnancy practices - Consume foods and beverages rich in folate, iron, calcium, and protein.
- Birth Options - In your third month you may want to start finding different strategies to help you learn breathing and relaxation techniques, and learn strategies to releave pain and fear. Have someone plan your gender reveal if you want one.
- Highlights of labor - The passage of the mucous plug from the cervix, as well as mild contractions.

Forth Month
- Second Trimester (14-15 weeks)
- Heredity/Genetics Concept - At 4 months your child has formed
their eyelids, eyebrows, eyelashes, nails, and hair. Meanwhile,
teeth and bones are becoming denser.
- What to do and What not to do - Do's: Get plenty of rest, Spend
time with your friends & family, and Take care of your mental heath. Don't's: avoid exposure to pesticides, lead, and mercury.
- Healthy Pregnancy Practices - Eat foods high in fiber, and drink fluids (particularly water) to avoid constipation.
- Birth Options - Decorate your nursery, buy some maternity clothes, and start thinking about your baby shower.
- Highlights of labor - Water breaks. Your Mio-chorionic membrane ruptures. Also a sign delivery may be right around the corner.

Fifth Month
- Second Trimester (17-19 weeks)
- Heredity/Genetics Concepts - Your baby is starting to develop soft body hair and a greasy coating that helps protect the skin.
- What to do and What not to do - Do's: Putting yourself and your baby first,
and limiting stress. Do: Don't eat raw meat, deli meat, or unpasteurized milk products.
- Healthy Pregnancy Practices - For stretch marks, if you are going to use a cream, gel, or lotion, make sure to do so early on and to massage the product into the marks.
- Highlights of the Second trimester - You may start to feel your baby moving around for the first time around 20 weeks, The uterus grows to the height of your bellybutton around
20 weeks making the pregnancy more visible, and your Appetite may increase
- Birth Options - Think about how you wan you're Labor environment such
as, in a quiet space, music playing, in a bath, with lots of support people, etc.
- Highlights of labor - First stage of labor: Contractions are around 10-20
minutes apart and your cervix is dialting with every contration.

Sixth Month
- Second Trimester (21-23 weeks)
- Heredity/Genetics Concepts - Your baby is starting to develop
blood cells, taste buds, eyebrows, and eyelashes.
- What to do and what not to do - Do's: Avoid nausea triggers
whether it's the smell of tastes, stear clear of anything that
can trigger nausea Don't's: Contact sports, Activities with a fall risk, and Amusement parks.
- Healthy Pregnancy Practices - Make time for yourself: Now more than ever, it's important to take some time for yourself every day.
- Birth Options - Start thinking about your after birth plans such as, after baby is born who do you want to come in the room first or who do you want to cut the umbilical cord.
- Highlights of labor - 2nd stage of labor: lasts around 90 minutes, during this stage stag the baby starts to slowly move down the birth canal, the mother pushes in response to the pressure against her pelvic muscles, and the crown of the baby head is visible.
