What is an earthquake?
An earthquake is a sudden movement of the earth due to the fall of rocks that are located at great depth.
An earthquake can occur at any time. But........
We should not be afraid, sometimes the movement of the earth can be a little strong, but these are things of nature since no one can avoid this natural disaster.

What causes an earthquake?
Earthquakes can cause fires, tsunamis, landslides or avalanches.
But most of the time they are just sudden movements and do not cause natural disasters.
The causes are

What can we do if any of these natural disasters occur?
If an earthquake happens, protect yourself right away:
Stay Safe during
Note; We should also not forget that we must remain calm, as it has to stop at any moment. We may feel worried at that moment, but that is normal. Furthermore, if we take precautionary measures, everything will be fine.
Who studies earthquakes
Seismologists are Earth scientists who specialize in studying seismic waves using materials extracted from deep underground. These materials can range from a laboratory sample to the entire Earth, from its origin to its end.

Oooh!!
But, what are seismic waves?

Scientists call waves that travel through the Earth seismic waves. These waves are actually waves of energy that result from earthquakes, explosions, or volcanoes. These waves are felt in the Earth's crust. The Earth's crust is the outer layer of our planet and it is very thin.
Seismic waves are...

Primary waves: are able to travel through solid rocks as well as liquids, for example oceans or volcanic magma.
Secondary waves: They travel slower than P waves, so they arrive later at the surface waves.
What tools do scientists use to detect an earthquake?
They use seismographs, a system that detects, amplifies and records earthquakes, as well as other movements and vibrations of the earth.
