This story is dedicated to all the young minds learning the importance of safety and responsibility on the roads.
May you always walk, drive, and live with care and kindness.
- Esma Malkoç

Early one morning, the traffic signs in a small town square were talking among themselves. The Pedestrian Crossing Sign, reminding drivers to stop for pedestrians, the Speed Limit Sign, asking drivers to slow down, and the Danger Sign, warning about risky areas, were all explaining their duties.

"My job is to ensure that pedestrians can cross the road safely," the Crosswalk Sign said proudly. "As long as I'm here, cars will slow down and pedestrians can cross safely. If I'm ever forgotten, pedestrians could be in danger." The other signs looked on in admiration at the Crosswalk Sign's mission.

“I remind drivers to go slow,” Speed Limit Sign agreed. “If they speed, accidents can happen and people can get hurt. That’s why it’s very important that they slow down when they see me.” Crosswalk Sign nodded and said, “You’re doing a great job!”

"I stay in dangerous places," Danger Sign said with a sigh. "But sometimes no one pays attention to me. Then accidents happen, and it makes me very sad." The other signs consoled him, and together they decided to find a solution to make her post more visible.

At the end of a day, the three signs came together and came up with a plan to make the Danger Sign more visible.
“I can make drivers pay attention to you when I give them warnings,” said the Speed Limit Sign.
“I can also direct pedestrians and draw their attention to you,” added the Crosswalk Sign.
Danger Sign was grateful for the support of her friends. “We will be stronger together,”she smiled. And so each of them came up with a new plan to be both more effective.

A little later, a school bus passed by the road. The driver slowed down when he saw the Speed Limit Sign. "It's a good thing there's a speed limit sign here," the driver thought. Thanks to this, children and other pedestrians walking on the road could proceed safely.

The service driver stopped immediately when he saw the Pedestrian Crossing Sign. The children crossed in a row. The sign proudly said, “This is why I’m here!” As the children crossed safely, the driver silently thanked the Pedestrian Crossing Sign.
