After two years later one day, while they were having a picnic, they heard a sound. They went towards where the sound came from. There they saw an injured kitten. The owner of the voice they heard was this injured cat. After the doctor examined the cat visually, he took it to the veterinarian and had it treated. Although the doctor loved cats very much, he did not want to take care of them at home.

Later, the doctor and his best friend visited the kitten every day, feeling happy to see it getting stronger. The little cat purred with love whenever they arrived. One evening, the veterinarian said, "This kitten seems at peace with you. Have you thought about taking it home?"

The doctor hesitated, but his friend smiled and said, "Sometimes, love finds us in unexpected ways."

Looking into the kitten’s bright eyes, the doctor felt a deep joy. With a warm smile, he finally said, "Alright, let’s bring it home."

From that day on, they lived together, filling their days with love, peace, and happiness. But one day, something unexpected happened that changed everything…

Chapter 4 by „Vasile Conta” Secondary School Iași

    The life of the doctor, his friend and the little cat was happy and peaceful. The kitten had proven to be a loyal and energetic companion, bringing smiles to every corner of the house. But, on a cool autumn evening, something strange happened.

        The doctor and his friend were sitting on the terrace of the house, enjoying a hot tea, while the cat was playing in the garden. The wind blew gently through the golden leaves, creating a soothing murmur. Suddenly, the kitten suddenly stopped playing and stared fixedly at the dark edge of the garden. Its fur bristled, and a barely perceptible growl escaped from its teeth.

    Curious, the two friends stood up and looked in the direction indicated by the animal. In the darkness, a blurry figure seemed to move among the trees. The doctor turned on the flashlight on his phone and slowly walked forward. With each step, the feeling of unease grew.

    Suddenly, a strange sound was heard, a mixture of a hiss and a squeak. The kitten jumped into the doctor's arms, trembling. His friend put a hand on his shoulder and whispered:

- Maybe we should go back to the house...

      The doctor nodded in the affirmative, but before he took a step back, he noticed something shining on the ground. He bent down and picked up a small old locket, 

covered in dust and dirt. He was looking at it in amazement when, 

suddenly, a cold wind blew, as if nature itself wanted to warn them.

      When they entered the house, the doctor cleaned the locket and discovered an engraving on its back: a name and a date. The two friends looked at each other in bewilderment. Who was that person and what did he have to do with where they lived?

     That night, for the first time since they had moved in together, their sleep was disturbed by strange dreams and vague whispers. It seemed that their peace had been disturbed by something... or someone.

      The next day, the doctor decided to look for more information about the name inscribed on the medallion. Together with his friend, he went to the city library. There, among the shelves full of old books, they met Elena, a young librarian passionate about history. With her curious eyes and warm smile, Elena offered to help them.

   – This name seems familiar to me... I came across it in an old diary,  kept in a special collection. Let's check it out!

       The doctor and his friend looked at each other in surprise. They had not expected to find a clue so quickly. With their hearts beating faster, they followed Elena to a secluded corner of the library, where a forgotten truth waited to be discovered.Elena pulled a dusty volume from a high shelf and carefully opened it. The fragile pages held the notes of a person who had lived many years ago. The name engraved on the locket appeared in an alarming passage: “That evening, I felt a presence near me. The locket seems to be the key to a secret that I dare not discover alone. If anyone finds these lines, be careful. The shadow still watches.”The words made the three of them hold their breath.

 What did that warning mean? And more importantly, 

what was the “shadow” the diary spoke of?

 Had they unwittingly discovered a mystery much 

greater than they had imagined?

  Elena took one careful look at the medallion under the dim light of the library's reading lamp.As her eye scanned the mysterious gravure ,she gasped .This is not just ancient  

- it is enchanted ,she whispered.

  Suddenly ,the room darkened.A strange shadow  crept across the shelves, and the medalion  started to glow softly in Elena's hand.
