Prologue: The Curse Upon the Kingdom

     Once upon a time, in a kingdom shrouded in eternal darkness, there lived a girl named Xiao Le. The sun had not graced the land for as long as anyone could remember, and the skies were perpetually cloaked in stormy clouds. Xiao Le’s life, much like the weather, was heavy with sorrow and unrelenting gloom.

     Her father had passed away, leaving her at the mercy of her cruel stepmother and wicked stepsisters, who made her toil endlessly from dawn till dusk. Xiao Le’s heart ached for a chance to escape, to break free from her harsh reality. Then, one fateful night, as hope seemed a distant dream, a mysterious fairy godmother appeared before her, offering the possibility of a new beginning.

The fairy godmother was unlike any figure from the stories Xiao Le had heard. She was cloaked in shadow, her glowing eyes piercing through the darkness. Her voice was a soft, ominous whisper: "The ball is not for merriment, but for power. Come with me, and I will show you how to wield it." Intrigued and driven by a yearning for change, Xiao Le hesitated for only a moment before agreeing to follow.

   As Xiao Le stepped into the palace, she was enveloped by an overwhelming surge of magical energy. Her gown, woven from the very fabric of the night sky, shimmered with countless stars, making her feel more powerful and alive than she had ever imagined.

 The prince, cursed by magic, noticed her immediately. But Xiao Le wasn’t there for love; she wanted to be stronger, to take control of her own life.

As the night wore on, Xiao Le and the prince’s eyes met, but she felt no desire to be claimed by him. Her heart longed for freedom, not a life bound by another’s will. When the clock struck midnight, she fled the palace in haste, leaving behind a single diamond heel. It was more than just a lost shoe—it was a symbol of her strength, a promise that the power was hers to command.

Xiao Le raced into the heart of the deep, shadowed forest. The trees loomed thick and ancient, their gnarled branches whispering secrets of forgotten times. But she was not alone. Lurking among the shadows was the Big Bad Wolf, once a noble guardian of the woods, now twisted and corrupted by the curse that had befallen the land.
