"Autumn Leaves: A STEM Adventure for Kindergarten"
This collaborative book is a collection of fun and engaging STEM activities designed for kindergarten students, all inspired by the beauty of autumn leaves. Created in partnership with the eTwinning program, it brings together educators and young learners from different countries to explore science, technology, engineering, and math through hands-on experiences. From leaf investigations to creative experiments, this book encourages curiosity, teamwork, and a love for nature in early childhood education.

Autumn magic with crayons. Autumn trees - recycling toilet paper rolls, napkins, lots of imagination and creativity. We looked at and compared autumn leaves, then printed them with watercolors. The result was beautiful bouquets.

One sunny day we played with our shadows in the school yard and then picked out leaves and fruits from our nature store and tried to draw the outline of their own shadow. Afterwards we made an artcraft that we called shadows.

Games and experiments with shadows and light. We brought autumn leaves to our classroom, we observed them and we let the games begin. We seperated the leaves by their color and made groups of green, brown and yellow leaves. We experimented with the shadows of the leaves and we drew the outline of the leaf shadow. Then, we added water colors to our painting and we named it “Leaves taken by the wind”. We made one more craft with the leaves

We brought autumn leaves to our classroom, we observed them and seperated them by their color and shape. We also made mathematic motivos. We experimented with water, which element floats and which sinks.Games and experiments with shadows and light.

My students love experiments. So, we decided to play and experiment with shadows. We went out to the kindergarten yard, collected leave, drew on them, measured them, and sorted them. Then,we used the following materials: transparent film, a clear bowl ,markers, a rubber band, and a flashlight. On the transparent film, we drew the outline of a leaf.By placing the flashlight directly behind the cup, the leaf appeared on the wal.The children were excited.

We played with shadows and light. The students created with their hands leaves, animals, magical creatures and other elements of nature. We had so much fun!

We experimented with leaves and tried to find the chlorofyll essence inside the leaves. So we trapped the green leaves inside two pieces of paper and hit them with a stick. When we opened the paper the leaf left its green chlorofyll. It was really fascinating for the kids since they did not know that each leaf is alive. We also put a leaf in a jar covered with water to see if the leaf can breathe. And it sure can breathe as it puts out bubbles
1.We dipped green leaves in the water and waited to see the result, the bubbles started to rise to the surface. That's how we proved our theory that plants can breathe.
2.The path of water on the leaf - we used colored water, we wanted to see what the difference would be if we dip the green leaf, just picked up and what would happen, if we dunk already fallen, yellow leaves. Result was that in both cases we managed to follow the path of the water, coloring the leaves. We played a game - Draw a Shadow. We tried to catch leave's shadows and create a drawing. It was fun for the kids to try drawing the leaves, using their shadows

Outdoor activities in Autumn
We take ink from a fountain pen with a syringe. We apply the ink to the stem part of the leaf. Let's apply it liberally to the front and back. We fill a large container ( basin or glass pot) with water. We leave the leaf aside and watch the dance of the leaf and the dispersion of the ink.
