the plot
The Happy Prince is a beautiful golden statue with jewel eyes. One night, a little bird stops to rest and sees the Prince crying. The Prince is sad because he can see the poor and suffering people in the city. He asks the bird to help by bringing his red jewel to a sick boy, his blue eyes to a writer and a little girl, and his gold to the poor. The bird stays with him, even as winter comes. The bird dies from the cold, and the Prince’s heart breaks, then the city leaders remove the statue. In heaven, God chooses the bird and the Prince’s heart as the most precious things and gives them a place in paradise.
