It was a warm and quiet summer evening, and the stars were slowly appearing above the serene Moonlit Lake. Maria, a curious young artist, was wandering along the forest path near the water’s edge. The lake’s surface was glimmering, reflecting the silver light of the full moon. With her sketchpad in hand, Maria was searching for inspiration for her next painting.
As Maria was settling onto a large, mossy rock, she noticed the air around the lake was whispering with strange sounds. The gentle rustling of the leaves was blending with an unfamiliar hum, almost as if the forest itself was talking. She brushed off her unease and was sketching the moon’s reflection on the water when something unusual caught her eye.
Across the lake, a faint glow was emerging, rippling through the water without any apparent source. Slowly, the glow was taking shape, forming symbols that seemed ancient and otherworldly. Maria was staring intently, her heart was racing. The symbols were pulsing softly as if they were alive
A sudden movement from the corner of her eye startled her. A cloaked figure was standing near the water’s edge, their silhouette blending with the shadows of the trees. Maria froze. “Who’s there?” she called out nervously. The figure was turning toward her, and even though she couldn’t see their face, she felt their eyes were piercing right through her.
“You shouldn’t be here,” the figure said softly, their voice was echoing in the still night air. Before Maria could respond, the figure raised their hand, and the glowing symbols were swirling, lifting from the water and hovering in the air. The light was dancing around the figure, illuminating the outline of their features for just a moment.
“What are you doing?” Maria finally managed to whisper, her voice trembling. The figure chuckled, their tone calm yet unsettling. “I am protecting something far older than you can imagine,” they replied. Their movements were quick and deliberate, and the glowing symbols were forming a circle around them
Maria’s curiosity was battling with her fear. She stepped closer, her sketchpad still clutched tightly in her hands. “What do these symbols mean?” she asked.
“You’ll find out soon enough,” the figure said, their voice was fading as they were disappearing into the shadows. The glowing symbols collapsed back into the lake, leaving no trace that they had ever existed.
