Once upon a time, in a magical land called Matterville, everything was made up of tiny little things called atoms. These atoms came together in different ways to form three special forms: solids, liquids, and gases. Each of these forms had its own magical powers and ways of moving.
One sunny day, a curious girl named Mia decided to explore Matterville and learn about the amazing states of matter. She packed her backpack, waved goodbye to her family, and set off on her adventure.

Mia met King Cube, a wise old cube who told her, “In the Solid Kingdom, everything stays in one place. Our atoms are packed tightly together, and they don’t move much. That’s why everything is so solid!”
Mia touched a big stone wall and felt how solid it was. "Wow! So, things like rocks and ice are solids?" she asked.
"Yes!" said King Cube. "Anything that keeps its shape, like a chair or a toy, is a solid. The atoms stick together tightly like friends holding hands!"
Mia’s first stop was the Solid Kingdom. Everything in the Solid Kingdom was hard and strong. The buildings were made of stone, the trees were thick with sturdy trunks, and the ground was covered in solid dirt.

Next, Mia traveled to the Liquid Lagoon. The water in the lagoon was always moving, splashing around in waves and ripples. She watched as the liquid formed puddles, streams, and splashed into fountains.
A friendly water droplet named Drippy swam up to her. "Welcome to the Liquid Lagoon, Mia! Here, the atoms are close together but not as tightly packed as in the Solid Kingdom. They can move around, so the liquid flows and changes shape!"
Mia dipped her hand into the cool water. “So, liquids can change shape, but they still take up the same amount of space, right?”
“That’s right!” Drippy smiled. “Water, juice, and milk are liquids. They can fill any container, and they change shape based on the container they're in.”

Mia's next adventure took her to the Gassy Sky, a place full of floating clouds, balloons, and flying bubbles. She looked up and saw the sky filled with air, moving around and swirling in all directions.
Mia met a bubbly balloon named Airy. “Welcome to the Gassy Sky!” said Airy. “Here, the atoms are spread out and move around quickly, bouncing off each other. That’s why gases don’t stay in one place. They fill up all the space they can!”
Mia watched as a balloon floated higher and higher. “So, air and helium are gases, and they can spread out in all directions?” she asked.
“Exactly!” Airy cheered. “Gases can change shape and size, and they always fill up the space they are in. You can’t see most gases, but you can feel them, like the wind or the air you breathe!”

Mia was having so much fun learning about the three states of matter. But then, the wise old Wizard Atom appeared. “Mia, I challenge you to a Matter Quest!” he said. “You must help me find the magic that happens when matter changes from one state to another!”
Mia was excited but also a little nervous. “What do I have to do?” she asked.
Wizard Atom smiled and said, “You must help me change a solid into a liquid, a liquid into a gas, and a gas into a solid. Are you ready?”
“I’m ready!” Mia replied, feeling brave.
