Classrooms have changed through the years. This is what a typical classroom looked like when I attended school in the 1980's and 1990's. Along with the classroom changes, has come the evolution of the technology that we now have available to us.

With the ever evolving digital world, it is crucial that we, as educators, implement technology wisely into our everyday strategies.

It is important to make sure that technology is used to enhance the teaching method and not drive it.

The TPACK method can help to make sure that you are using technology in a manner that will make the most impact. It results in technology working to help convey the content knowledge with the method of presentation to help promote a meaningful experience for the student. What, exactly, does that look like?

One of the first things to consider is which tools will help to present the content you are trying to teach in a way that is engaging for your students. The overall goal is to allow the students to take control of the learning through guidance. There are so many great tools on the internet today to help with this.

These are a few of the tools that are used in my classroom to help the students learn and practice skills.

As educators, it is also our responsibility to teach our students to be good citizens. There are a number of resources that are made for this. One of these is Class Dojo. It has a number of lessons on Social Emotional Learning. It also allows the students to gain points for positive behavior or lose points when they have behaviors that need improvement. It also serves a dual purpose by communicating directly with parents. Students can also be rewarded at home. It is important that we include the student's family in all aspects of their education whenever possible.
