One day at school Emily was in Mr. Johnson's theater class. Mr. Johnson spent the entire class period talking about the preparations for the Musical and how the class should all try out. Emily was excited about the musical, but she had no idea if she had the talent to try out.
When class ended, Mr. Johnson asked Emily if she planned on auditioning for the school musical. Emily said, "I'll think about it!" Emily walked out of class truly pondering the question.

That afternoon, Emily met with her best friend Carlee. Carlee asked Emily why she was so nervous. Emily told Carlee that she was nervous because she planned on trying out for the Musical, but she had no idea what she was doing.
Carlee said, "Why didn't you tell me that you were trying out for the musical? I can help you!" The rest of the afternoon, Carlee helped Emily prepare for her musical audition.

The next day, Emily was in Mr. Johnson's class again. Mr. Johnson asked Carlee if she was ready for auditions, and Carlee replied, "Yes! I'm super excited, especially since Emily has decided to try out!" Mr. Johnson was surprised, and he told Emily, "I'll be excited to see you at auditions!"

After school that day, auditions were set to start. When it was Emily's turn to sing her prepared piece, she remembered everything that her friend Carlee had told her to be able to prepare for auditions. She remembered that Carlee had told her for musical auditions, to always pick a piece to sing that matches the style of the musical, and that showcases your singing ability. So she did just that! The first part of her audition was complete!

The second part of the audition was the dancing portion. Emily once again remembered Carlee's advice. Carlee's advice was to be confident no matter what. Carlee also said to try your best, and have fun. She said that the audition should be fun, and the judges want to see your personality and talent, not just one or the other.
