In addiction, a person develops both a physical and psychological need for the substance they use. Over time, this need negatively affects their health, relationships, work life, and overall quality of life. If left untreated, addiction can lead to serious physical illnesses, mental health issues, and social problems

Causes of Substance Addiction – Susuz Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School – Medine-
Genetic Factors: Having a family history of substance addiction can put an individual at a higher risk.
Environmental Factors: Family problems, social environment and peer groups, and starting substance use at an early age.
Psychological Factors: Mental health issues such as stress, depression, and anxiety; seeking escape or relief.

The effects of substance leakage are quite extensive and can have serious consequences both on an individual and societal level. These effects can be permanent and appear in psychological and social dimensions.
Drug substances can disrupt heart rhythm, cause an increase in blood pressure, and raise the risk of heart attacks.

Methods of Combating Substance Addiction – Scoala Gimnaziala nr.7, Galati, Romania –
• Treatment Methods:
Medication (especially to alleviate withdrawal symptoms)
Psychotherapy (individual or group therapy)
Behavioral therapy (motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy)
• Support Groups:
Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), support groups for drug addicts
• Family Support:
Involving family members in the therapy process can help the individual's recovery.

Family Support: Providing support for families to establish healthy communication with their children and adolescents, and to help them cope with stress.
Social Programs and Hobby Activities: Encouraging young people to spend their free time engaging in healthy activities other than substance use.
