EUCLİD(ÖKLİD)

Euclid was an important mathematician of Ancient Greece who lived around 300 BC. He taught in Alexandria. His most famous work is a 13-volume book called "Elements." This book systematically explains plane geometry based on axioms. For this reason, Euclid is considered the "father of plane geometry." By introducing the axiomatic approach to geometry, he laid the foundation of modern mathematics. His works have been used as a fundamental resource in mathematical education for centuries.

PİHAGORAS (PİSAGOR)

Pythagoras is an ancient Greek philosopher and mathematician who made important contributions to the field of mathematics and philosophy. His most well-known contributions are the Pythagorean Theorem, which is the distance between right triangles. It can also be explained by scattered ratios. The period in which Pythagoras lived shows a deep distribution over Ancient Greece and Western countries. The school founded by Pythagoras served important philosophers such as Plato and Aristotle in later periods.

Archimedes was born on the island of Sirikuza in Sicily. His father was Pihidas, an astronomer and mathematician. He encouraged Archimedes' interest in science and mathematics. He received his education in Alexandria, the famous Library of Alexandria, which was the scientific center of the period. Here, he had the opportunity to meet and work with great scientists of the period such as Euclid and Eratasthenes. He discovered the lightening power of water.

RENE DESCARTES

René Descartes (1596–1650) was a French philosopher, mathematician, and scientist. He is known as the father of modern philosophy. Descartes is famous for his statement "I think, therefore I am." He made important contributions to mathematics, especially in developing analytical geometry. He died in Sweden in 1650.

İSAAC NEWTON

He was an English scientist identified with his groundbreaking work in physics, mathematics, and astronomy. He is most famous for his law of gravitation and the laws of motion. Newton lost his father at a young age and was left a quiet, introverted childhood. He was educated at Cambridge University and returned home during an outbreak of plague, where he formulated the information presented. The famous story of an apple bursting from its tree comes from this period. Today, his work remains a fundamental part of science and mathematics education.

CARL FRİEDRİCH GAUSS

He proved that if the number of sides of a regular polygon is the product of different Fermat prime numbers and a power of 2, it can be drawn using ruler and compass.

He also found that every positive integer can be represented as the sum of at most three triangular numbers.

He is the first mathematician to prove the law of quadratic reciprocity.

He made the first systematic analysis of image formation in the paraxial approximation.

He explained the fundamental theorem of algebra.

Leonhard Euler (1707–1783) was a Swiss mathematician and physicist, widely regarded as one of the great minds in mathematics. He made fundamental contributions to calculus, atomic theory, topology, mechanics, and astronomy. Euler developed the modern notation of π, Σ (sum), and i (imaginary unit). He also solved the famous Seven Bridges of Königsberg problem, developing the . Despite his vision loss, he remained extremely productive, publishing more than 800 papers and books. His legacy includes Euler's elaboration of what are often presented as the most beautiful equations in mathematics.
