Chapter 1: Silent Waters, Silent Threat
Kaan Yaman, 29 years old, tall and built like a soldier because he was one. A former Special Forces operative, Kaan had seen more war zones than cities. After a mission gone wrong left him wounded and honorably discharged, he tried to lead a quiet life in Istanbul. But peace was his prison.
He missed the adrenaline, the chaos, the unknown. So when a former comrade told him about a private ocean expedition an uncharted zone in the Pacific he didn’t hesitate. A research team needed protection and guidance. Kaan was in.
Weeks later, he boarded a small vessel with a four-man crew. They set sail into deep waters, far from civilization.
The first days were almost therapeutic. The crash of waves, the open sea, the isolation it felt like rebirth. But on the 22nd night, everything changed.
The sky turned purple. Instruments went dead. The compass spun wildly. Then came the storm. Monstrous waves tossed the ship like a toy. Lightning cracked the mast in half.
Then, darkness.
Chapter 2: The Island’s Darkness
Kaan awoke on a sun-scorched shore, his uniform torn, lungs burning. All around him: silence. No crew. No wreckage. No help.
An unbroken forest loomed inland ancient trees tangled in vines, buzzing with unknown life. Kaan’s training kicked in. He needed shelter, water, food.
Over the next few days, he crafted a spear, found coconuts and freshwater streams, and built a shelter out of palm leaves. But the forest... it watched him.
Strange sounds echoed at night howls that didn’t belong to any known animal. One morning, he found clawed footprints circling his camp. Something else was here.
And it wasn’t afraid of him.
Chapter 3: Hunter and Hunted
By the third week, Kaan had mapped a rough sketch of the island using tree carvings and landmarks. He moved silently, avoided leaving tracks, stayed hidden. But he was not alone.
One night, while inspecting his traps, he saw it two red eyes glowing from the underbrush.
A figure, vaguely human, but wrong: lopsided head, oversized shoulders, unnatural movements.
He threw his spear. It vanished before the weapon hit.
The next morning, a severed boar’s head lay outside his shelter. A message.
He wasn't just surviving anymore.
He was being hunted.
Chapter 4: Behind the Masks
Exploring the island’s northern region, Kaan stumbled upon ancient ruins stone pillars wrapped in vines, walls etched with primitive drawings. They told a dark tale: masked figures kneeling before a beast, offering sacrifices.
That night, he heard soft drumming deep in the forest. Creeping forward, he saw five humanoid figures covered in mud, wearing masks made from bones and wood. Around a fire, they chanted and danced. It was a ritual. A summoning. Were they human? Or something else entirely
Chapter 5: Traps and Transformation
Kaan fortified his camp and laid traps: spike pits, snares, noise alarms. One night, a trap was triggered. He captured a creature barely human. Its skin was gray, its eyes milk-white, its mouth full of jagged teeth. It snarled like a beast.
It had once been a person.
Had the island done this to them?
The thought chilled him deeper than the jungle ever could.
