Far away, a boy named Ralph sat on the sand, feeling very sad. He had a big fight with a boy named Jack, and now his best friend Piggy was gone. Ralph felt lonely and mad at himself. “Why did I let this happen?” he said.
Exposition
In another place, a lady named Mary Maloney finds out that her husband doesn’t want to be with her anymore. Mary felt very angry and wanted to do something mean.
Exposition
In a big city, another lady named Mildred watches TV all day long. She doesn't like going outside, or spending time with her husband. She only wants to talk to the people on the screen, as if they were real people.
Exposition
Poof! A wizard pops up! She asks all of them, "What are your values?"
“Values?” the three of them ask. “What is that?”
Conflict
The wizard waves her wand! Whoosh! Ralph, Mildred, and Montag look around and they see fires, police alarms, and giant TVs everywhere!
Conflict

They all become really puzzled. Ralph yells, "Where are we?"
Mildred shouts, "Who are you? Where are we? Why is it so loud here? I want to go home!". Getting angry, Ralph claims, "Okay, you must all listen to me! I will be the boss! Let’s get out of here!"
Mary becomes mad and shouts, "Can you guys stop?! Look at what is around us."
Conflict

The wizard comes back and tells them, "As you can see, this place is messy, just like your hearts. In order for the city to be happy again, you guys must find your values." Lastly, she said, "You will have one day to do these things and will show me what you learned at the end!"
Conflict
Thinking about how crazy the wizard sounds, the three of them start walking away together to explore. Ralph sees two boys fighting. But then, one boy still gave food to the other when he didn’t have any.
“Why did you help him?” Ralph asked.
The boy smiled. “This is because of kindness and forgiveness. In our religion of Christianity, Jesus, our god, was kind to everyone, even to people others didn’t like" (Smith).
Jesus helped the people feel better and forgave them when they made mistakes. He showed that doing good means loving and forgiving others (“Forgiveness”).
RISING ACTION
RISING ACTION
Then, they hear a lot of people singing. One woman comes up to Mary, offers her a flower, and says, “This is Bhakti Yoga from the religion of Hinduism. It means showing love, which is a really strong emotion" (The Path).
“Even when I’m sad?” Mary asks.
“Yes, especially during our hard times," the woman says.
"Bhakti yoga can be practiced anywhere, even while you are waiting in line, as long as its quiet" (Bhakti Yoga).
After that, the three see a monk whispering quietly around the garden. Mildred asks, “What are you doing?”
“I’m practicing rightful mindfulness,” he said. “It's part of the Buddhist Eightfold Path. It means being calm, present, and rewarding your actions" (psyjdc).
Mindfulness focuses on the body and we are able to understand ourselves through practicing it (“Right Mindfulness”).
RISING ACTION
Ralph saw Piggy’s ghost. “I’m sorry,” Ralph whispered.
Ralph forgave himself. He felt happy again.
Piggy smiled. “It wasn’t your fault. I forgive you. I’m sorry I can’t help you fight anymore.”
climax
The wizard appears again and asks, "So...I'm pretty sure all of you have learned a lot right? Now it’s time to fix your hearts!"
