is for Acute Angles
A-Cute!
Acute angles are angles with a measure less than 90 degrees, but more than 0 degrees. An example is shown below. It is an acute angle because its angle measure is less than 90 degrees and larger than 0 degrees.

is for Bar Graphs

Bar graphs are a way to graph data on paper. It is useful for visualizing data. The example below show a bar graph about favorite class pets.

Penguins rule the school!

is for Capacity

Capacity is how much liquid is in a container. It can be in liters, milliliters, gallons, quarts, cups, etc. An example of capacity is the amount of water in your water bottle.

The capacity of the water in this bucket is 1 gallon!
There are 2 cups in a pint, 2 pints in a quart, and 4 quarts in a gallon.
is for Division

Division is when you divide a whole by a number to get equal groups. You know you have to do division if you have the whole and you are making equal groups.

There are 10 flowers and 5 flowers in each group, so there are 2 groups.
is for Equal Parts

Equal parts are 2 or more parts that are equal. For example, the pizza below is divided in equal parts, so everyone gets an equal amount of pizza.
I shouldn't have to share this pizza.
is for Factors

Factors are the two numbers that you multiply to get the whole. For example, in the problem 5 times 2, 5 and 2 are the factors.

Well duh.
is for Geometry

Geometry is a broad part of math. Geometry is basically everything about shapes. Angles, perimeter, area, and more are all geometry.

So, the angles of this triangle is geometry?
is for Half

Half is a way of saying one halve of something. One half of 8 is 4 . One half of 10 is 5. You can write one half as a fraction by writing 1/2. Two halves make a whole.

If there was only half of this lion, I would be safe.
GRRRRRRRR
is for Improper Fractions

Improper fractions occur when the numerator of a fraction is greater than the denominator. Improper fractions can be written as a mixed number.

That's just improper!
is for Justify

Justifying is when you prove your answer. Justifying your answer will prove that your answer is correct. You can justify your answer with equations.

I can justify I'm the greatest penguin wizard of all time!
is for Kilometers

Kilometers is a unit of measuring long distances in the metric system. You would use kilometers to measure a country's perimeter. However, you would not use kilometers (unless you are crazy) to measure a pencil because it is too small.
I'm not crazy, but I would measure this flower using kilometers.

0.00000000000000000001 kilometers.

is for Line Segments

Line segments are perfectly straight lines that have two endpoints. A pencil can be considered a line segment. Any line segment has to have a starting and ending point.

Is my staff a line segment?
is for Multiplication

Multiplication is when you multiply 2 factors. Multiplication works with equal groups. 5 times 3 is 15 because 5 groups of 3 is 15.

So, 12 times 12 is 144?
is for Numerator

The numerator is the number at the top of a fraction. An easy way to memorize this is n for north. It represents how many equal parts.

Got it.
is for Obtuse Angles

Obtuse angles are angles that measure more than 90 degrees, but less than 180 degrees. 90 degrees is not an obtuse angle.

Get me out of this hot desert!
is for Parallel Lines

No, its for penguin!

Parallel lines are lines that can go on forever and will never touch. You can never make a real parallel line because after a few billion miles, lines will eventually touch.
is for Quotient

A quotient is the answer to a division problem. The quotient of 20 divided by 5 is 4.

I love the toasty fire!
