One day, Lee was climbing a really big mountain because he was bored and wanted to see what was up there. He didn’t even know it was Mount Olympus, where all the gods lived. He just thought it looked cool. As he walked higher, the air got colder, and the wind started whipping around him. He pulled his hoodie tighter and kept going. Then, BOOM! Lightning crashed, and out of nowhere, a giant bearded guy appeared, looking super angry. It was Zeus! “Who dares climb my mountain?” Zeus shouted so loud it shook the ground. Clouds swirled behind him, and the wind pushed Lee back a little. Lee froze. “Uh… me? My name’s Lee.” Zeus squinted at him. “A mortal? What are you doing here?”
Lee shrugged. “I don’t know, I just wanted to check it out.”
Zeus sighed and sat down on a big rock. “Being King of the Gods is exhausting. Everyone complains. Hermes steals my stuff. Poseidon won’t stop whining about the ocean. And Hades… Hades is just a pain.”Lee blinked. “Wow, sounds kind of annoying.”
Zeus nodded. “It is. And they never say thank you, either.”
Lee sat down next to Zeus, which was probably a bad idea, but he figured if he was about to get zapped, it would’ve happened already. “Have you ever taken a break?”Zeus scoffed. “A break? Gods don’t take breaks.”
Lee thought about it. “Maybe you should.”
Zeus stroked his beard like he was actually thinking about it. Then his eyes started glowing. “You know what? Maybe I’ll let you have a little bit of my power.”
Before Lee could even say anything, Zeus waved his hand and—ZAP!—a tiny lightning bolt appeared in Lee’s fingers. It crackled softly, sending little sparks flying.
“Use it wisely,” Zeus said. “Now go before Hades finds out, or things will get bad.”
Lee jumped up, eyes wide. “Wait—what do I do with this?”
Zeus was already standing again, stretching like he was about to go take a nap. “Figure it out. You mortals are
good at that.” Then, with another rumble of thunder, Zeus disappeared.
Lee ran down the mountain super fast, gripping the tiny lightning bolt. He had no idea what he would do with it, but one thing was for sure—this was the best day EVER.
