DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT
"How Does Your Final Year of High School Look Like?" is an international eTwinning project designed for high school seniors (ages 16 –19) learning English. The project aims to compare final-year experiences across different countries, improve students’ language and digital skills, and foster international collaboration. Through interactive activities such as video presentations, discussions, and collaborative timelines, students will explore educational systems, exams, traditions, and future plans in the last year of the high school. The project will result in creative outcomes like blog posts, podcasts, and a shared digital e-book, enhancing students’ cross-cultural understanding and communication skills.

Our students will compare how the final year of high school looks in different countries, develop language and digital skills, and foster international collaboration among students. This project can be highly engaging for students, as it focuses on a topic directly relevant to their lives. It allows them to exchange experiences and build connections with peers from other countries.

EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM

The educational system is a process that enables each individual to develop knowledge and skills, and prepares them for the labor market. It consists of institutions that participate in achieving educational and instructional goals (kindergartens, schools, colleges). The education system can vary, but in most countries it is divided into four parts: preschool education, primary education, secondary education, and colleague education. In preschool age, children learn through play. Primary education provides children with basic knowledge such as reading, writing, mathematics, and natural sciences. The goal of secondary education is to provide students with specific knowledge for entering the labor market or to prepare them for further education at universities.

EDUCATIONAL SYSTEMS IN OUR COUNTRIES
Comparing the education systems in our countries, we noticed that there are similarities in the levels of education, but certain levels do not last the same length of time in all countries. Also, compulsory education is not the same in all countries. For example, in Croatia and Greece, education is compulsory until the age of 15, while in Slovakia, Turkey, and Armenia it is compulsory until the age of 18. In all countries there are public and private schools, and to enroll in college, it is necessary to pass entrance exams.

PARTNER ACTIVITIES

The last year of high school is special for everyone. In the events during the last year, we noticed similarities in partner countries. Students eagerly await the prom night (for which they start preparing as early as the beginning of the school year). In October or November, students begin preparing for the final exams that they are facing at the end of the school year. In Turkey and Croatia, students take pictures for yearbooks and graduation albums. In all partner countries, students receive their diplomas at a ceremonial award.

PARTNER ACTIVITIES

OUR MEETINGS
Students and teachers communicated through online meetings.
The teachers met and agreed on which activities they will carry out and how they will present them.
Students presented their education systems and discussed typical events in their final year of high school. This was an activity that students found interesting because they could talk with students from other countries and also learned some interesting information about the schooling of their peers.
