In the Light's Path: An Epic Journey What if the story you heard… became your own?
When sixteen-year-old Umay asks her grandfather for a story from another culture, she never expects to become part of one. Swept into the mythical land of Solara—a place where cultures blend and ancient virtues guide the future—Umay begins a journey of discovery, unity, and courage.
Guided by a mysterious child, challenged by shadows born of fear, and inspired by a legendary Watcher named Elra, Umay must uncover the universal truth that binds humanity: respect, understanding, and compassion. With every step, she learns that true citizenship begins not with borders, but with bridges.
A timeless tale of cultural harmony and personal growth, In the Light’s Path is more than a story—it’s an invitation to dream of a better world, and to help build it.

It was a rainy autumn evening. The wind was gently tapping at Umay’s window. Umay, a sixteen-year-old student, had learned about “citizenship and universal values” at school that day. During the lesson, her teacher had said, “We can't be real global citizens without getting to know other cultures.”
That evening, just like always, she was sitting across from her grandfather, Ali Dede, in the living room. While the tea rattled softly on the stove, Umay said eagerly,
— Grandpa, I want to hear one of your old stories again. But this time, let it have something from other cultures too…
Ali Dede adjusted his glasses, gave a gentle smile, and leaned back in his chair.
— Alright then, let me tell you an epic you’ve never heard before. This epic wasn’t born in our land, but it carries a universal lesson close to our hearts. Its name is… “The Epic of the Journey to Cultural Heritage.”
Umay leaned in with curiosity. Her grandfather continued:
“Once upon a time, in a hidden land where continents met, there was a peaceful country called Solara. Every generation, the people of Solara would choose a ‘Watcher’—someone who would travel to different cultures, learn their best virtues, and bring that wisdom back to their
people.
But one day, the cultural ties that held people together began to unravel. Communities grew distant, prejudices took root, and Solara’s ‘Star of Unity’ began to fade.
In the midst of this darkness, a young girl named Elra stepped forward as a candidate to become the next Watcher…”
Umay’s eyes light up. — And what happened next? Did she manage to relight the star?
Ali Dede nodded. — Elra visited many cultures. And in time, she discovered that no matter how different people seemed, they all shared one common value: respect. Their languages were different, but the look in their eyes was the same. Compassion, justice, tolerance… Elra brought all these values together and returned to Solara. But a difficult test awaited her.
Everything around Umay seemed to fade. She was completely immersed in the story. Her grandfather’s voice slowly turned into a distant hum. Her vision darkened. When she opened her eyes, she found herself in a strange land. The sky shimmered with a golden hue. People around her were speaking different languages, but every face she saw was smiling. In the distance, atop a mountain, a faint light was glowing—calling to her. A child approached and gently took her hand.
— Elra is waiting for you, he said. Umay asked, barely able to believe it,
— Am I… dreaming? The child shook his head. — No. This is your story now. Follow the light—and become a real Watcher
Umay took a deep breath and looked around. The air smelled of cinnamon and something unfamiliar
—perhaps jasmine. She could feel the warmth of the child’s hand in hers as they walked through a village unlike any she had ever seen. The buildings were crafted from sun-dried clay, their walls covered in colorful patterns that seemed to tell stories of old.
“Where are we?” Umay asked softly. The child smiled.
“This is the Valley of Echoes. It’s where all Watchers begin their journey.”
As they reached the center of the village, a group of people gathered. Each wore clothing from different cultures
—tunics, robes, saris, and shawls
—all united by a single symbol: a golden circle over their hearts. One of them, an elderly woman with bright eyes, stepped forward.
“You must be Umay,” she said. “Elra has told us about you.” Umay’s heart skipped a beat.
“Is she here?”
The woman nodded.
“She awaits you at the Mirror Grove, but the path there is not easy. You must first learn the Song of Bridges.” Umay looked puzzled.
“A song?” The woman gestured to a circle of instruments
—drums, flutes, and stringed tools she didn’t recognize.
“Each culture sings it differently, but the meaning is always the same: unity through understanding
.” As Umay sat down among the villagers, she felt the pulse of a drum vibrate through her chest. One by one, they began to sing in their own languages. Though the words were foreign, the harmony touched something deep within her.
