In memory of

For my grandmother,
who taught me that the truest magic begins
with kindness in your heart, and that even the smallest act
can ripple out like waves in the sea.
Your love, your lessons, and your light live in every page of this story.
Because of you, I learned how to lead with compassion, and believe in wonder.

Beneath the shimmer of Luma Lagoon,
Where the coral swayed with a marvelous tune,
Lived Nyra the mermaid, gentle and bright,
And Bibble the seahorse, her hearts guiding light!

Bibble would bob through the bubbles and beams,
his tiny tail curling in soft, sleepy streams.
He’d loop around Nyra, then twirl in delight,
as they played hide-and-swish in the warm morning light

But one quiet morning, the sea lost its hue—
the coral turned gray, and the fish hid from view.
The Coral Heart, deep where the reef shadows sleep,
was cracked in the night, and no longer beat.

A hush fell around them- deep, heavy, and wide.
No giggles from the dolphins. No singing. No tide.
"Oh no!" exclaimed Nyra, "The Coral heart has broken; there's no time to spare!
We must find the kindness still left in the sea air!"

They swam quickly through the sea,
searching for creatures in need.
Finally, they spotted a crab who was without a shell and in need of their help!
"My shell is cracked in two!" the poor crab said with fright,
"I can't find a home that fits me just right"

Nyra smiled gently and offered a shell,
Bibble spun softly like a silvery bell.
“With this on your back, you’ll be cozy and strong!”
The crab clicked with joy and scuttled along.
Just then, from the sea, a soft glimmer broke free-
a piece of the Coral Heart!
Bright as could be.

They followed the light past a school of moonfish,
who whispered and darted like bubbles that swish.
Then Bibble heard crying—so quiet, so small—
it came from a starfish curled up in a ball.
“I’ve lost my way home,” she said through a tear,
“My reef is far off, and I’m stuck over here!”

Nyra reached out with a shimmer and grin,
“We'll help you get home—just tuck your arms in.”
They swam through the kelp with the star gently swaying,
While Bibble blew bubbles that kept her from straying.
At last, they arrived where her family shone bright,
and the starfish waved softly with pure, glowing light.

Then out of the deep came a warm golden gleam—
a piece of the Heart, like a dream in a dream.
