Foreword
This book is the result of the Journey From Book To Us project, carried out jointly by children, teachers and families from Spain, Turkiye , Lithuania and Portugal .
Our story tells of a tiny caterpillar's journey of transformation, illustrating that change can sometimes be frightening but is always natural and full of hope.
This journey, in which each child expresses their emotions, has brought hearts together through the power of books.
Bego's story whispers that a small touch can lead to great changes—just like the butterfly effect.
We hope these pages will sprout a new seed of hope in every reader.

Once upon a time, there lived a little caterpillar in the forest. His name was Bego. Bego was very curious and set off every morning to see new places. He had three close friends with him: Ego the quiet hedgehog, Fa the smart wolf and Esli the cheerful ladybird. Sometimes Bego was scared and sometimes he didn't know where he was going. But a voice inside him always said: "Go on Bego, good things await you.

When spring came, everything started in the forest. Flowers bloomed, trees turned green, and birds began to chirp joyfully. But for Bego and his friends, spring was not only full of beauty; it also brought some concerns. Bego was a little afraid of the change that spring brought. In this season when everything was coming to life again, the rapidly changing world around him worried him a little. As each leaf took on a different color, Bego wondered if he would change too. Ego understood this concern and reminded Bego that change was a natural process. “Everything changes, but that’s not a bad thing,” Ego said in a calm voice.

One night, Bego's friends decided to help her overcome her fear. How so? They built her a bed out of a matchbox, and with a balloon and a spider web, Bego flew for the first time.
That night, as Bego flowed toward the sky, the fears in his heart slowly melted away. The forest below seemed enveloped in night; every tree, every leaf was at peace.
“Maybe changing is not about getting lost… it’s about getting closer to yourself,” Bego whispered.
Ego, Fa, and Esli were waiting for him there. When Bego stepped onto the ground, he felt something different inside him. He didn’t know what it was yet, but he was no longer afraid of change.

Bego and his friends were walking around in a garden with colorful flowers. Bego's tummy started growling and he ate the yellow flower next to him. They went a little further and came across a tree with huge leaves. Bego met many caterpillars like himself and they were all eating leaves with great appetite. Bego didn't want to leave his friends, but now he had to say goodbye. They hugged each other and his friends said, "We will be waiting for you, don't worry." and sent Bego off to the other caterpillars
Ego looked at Bego with some surprise, but also with curiosity. No one had ever asked him how they could help him. For a moment, he remained silent, as if trying to understand what he was feeling. Then, in a timid voice, he said that sometimes he felt lost, as if he always had to be the best in order to be accepted. Bego smiled gently and explained that it wasn’t necessary to be perfect to be special — everyone had something unique inside them; they just needed the courage to discover it.
One bright morning, with dew still aglow,
And sunshine peeking through branches below,
Ego said softly:
– Bego, my friend,
Even small steps can bring joy in the end.
But Bego frowned and shook his head:
– Why walk at all? Nothing’s changed, he said.
The same old tree, the same green leaf,
The same quiet path, beyond belief.
Ego smiled with warmth in his eyes:
– Maybe it’s not what you see, but how you try.
If you look from a brand-new place,
Even the forest can change its face.
So off they went through the woods so wide,
Down the soft path, side by side.
Each little stop, a new surprise,
A lesson wrapped in nature’s disguise.
A ladybug flew – so brave and small –
She fell from a leaf, but didn’t fear at all.
– See? – said Ego. – She trusted the breeze,
Sometimes you just have to float with ease.
A snail crept slowly over the moss,
Never in a hurry, never at a loss.
– I take my time, – the snail explained,
– But I always reach what I have aimed.
That day in the forest, they learned so much,
From tiny friends and a gentle touch.
A little step is all it takes,
To see the world in brand-new shapes.
With courage, self-confidence and love they will be able to overcome any situation and in fact the power of love.
