There was a reserved girl named Defne in the class. She had long brown hair and green eyes. “What is she like?” Elif asked. “I think she’s just... introverted,” Ali replied.

Elif and Ali stood in the corridor during break.
“She seems cool,” Elif said, nodding toward Defne.
Ali followed her gaze. “Yeah, I guess.”
“I’m thinking about talking to her,” Elif added.
Ali shrugged. “Then do it.”
“I don’t know... Would it be weird?”
Ali smiled. “Only if you make it weird.”
Elif laughed. “Alright. I’ll go.”

Elif sat next to her during lunch. “What do you do in your free time?” she asked. “I enjoy sketching,” Defne replied.
“Oh really? What kind of things do you sketch?” “Faces. Expressions. They tell stories.”

Their teacher came in with news:
“There’s going to be a school-wide art exhibition!”
“You should join,” said Elif, to Defne.
“No, I can’t. It’s too intimidating,” she replied, looking down.

That evening, Defne looked at her drawing:
A woman waiting alone at a train station.
Her little brother looked at it and said,
“This is so realistic. You should show it.”
“Maybe...” she said, hesitating.
Defne came to school earlier than usual.
She was holding her drawing carefully in a folder.
Her palms were sweaty.
“What if they don’t like it?” she thought.
She walked through the doors slowly.
Everything felt louder — voices, footsteps, even her own heartbeat.
But then, she saw Elif waiting.
“You’re here,” Elif smiled.
Defne nodded. “I’m nervous… but also kind of excited.”

On the day of the exhibition, Defne's drawing was on the wall.
Students walked by, pausing to stare.
“I totally agree, hers is the best one here!”
“In my opinion, it feels real. It tells a story.”
“She’s so talented! I didn’t know she could draw like this.”
Even some teachers stopped and smiled.

After school, Elif approached her.
“You did it. You impressed everyone.”
“Thanks,” she said, “I feel more confident now.”
She didn’t win.
But she became someone admired — not for being loud,
but for being authentic, creative, and brave.
