Long ago, a woman named Dayang Sumbi lived in a forest.
She liked to weave cloth every day. One day, her yarn fell to the ground, she made a promise out loud.

She said, “Whoever brings my yarn back, I will marry him .”  A dog brought it back. The dog was a magical prince! Dayang Sumbi kept her promise.

They had a baby boy named Sangkuriang. He was strong and liked to explore, he did not know the dog was his father.
One day, something bad happened.

Sangkuriang went hunting in the forest, he saw the dog and didn’t know it was his father. He shot the dog. Dayang Sumbi was very angry and sad.

She told Sangkuriang the truth, then she sent him away.
Sangkuriang left the house. He went far, far away.

Years later, Sangkuriang came back, he met a beautiful woman. He did not know she was his mother, he wanted to marry her.

Dayang Sumbi was shocked. She saw a scar on his head.
She knew he was her son, she told him the truth.

Sangkuriang did not believe her, he still wanted to marry her.
Dayang Sumbi gave him a test, she had a smart plan.

"Make me a big boat in one night.” She said, If you finish it, 

I will marry you.
Sangkuriang agreed, he worked very hard

He asked spirits to help him, they built the boat very fast.
The sky was still dark. Dayang Sumbi became worried.
