Chapter 1: Tails Dream

    Everything was dark at first, until an image slowly began to appear in Tails' vision.

    There he was, as a young fox, minding his own business. Until two fox bullies arrived.

    "What are you doing?" asked Young Tails. "Stop it, please!" It was no use. The bullies kept on picking and teasing on him.

    Luckily, his old pal Sonic, ran by and the bullies immediately stopping picking on Tails. But something was different.

    When Sonic left, Tails realized that his feet were glued

to the ground. Literally, glued to the ground. The bullies turned around to face Tails with even meaner looks on their faces than they had before.

    They picked on him, teased him, and shouted out hurtful words. Sonic came back again, as if he knew what was happening and wanted to check on Tails.

    The bullies acted casual, and Tails could move his feet freely again. "Huh? My feet are free, and you guys are noting bugging me anymore. What's going on here?" asked Young Tails.

    When he turned to Sonic, he was gone again. And the bullies continued to bully Tails. This time, Sonic did not come back.

    For what seemed like hours, Young Tails was continuously bullied by the two foxes. His surroundings started to darken, and he could only hear the bullies' mocking laughter. He was surrounded by doubts for a moment, until everything went completely dark.

    And that's when he woke up on his bed. 

Chapter 2: New Invention Failure

    Amy sat on her porch with Tails later that day, carefully listening to the dream Tails was describing to her.

    "And then that's when everything got darker. Although, I still heard the two foxes' laughter in the darkness. A while after that, I woke up," said Tails.

    "I see," said Amy. "You know, this isn't I've had a nightmare like this," said Tails. "In some of them, the bullies just go away, while in the others Sonic's not there and I keep getting picked on."

    "Well, I do know that you've know Sonic for a long time," said Amy. "He was the one who stopped those

bullies and helped you. Ever since then, you and Sonic became best friends and you always had each other's back, no matter the situation.

    "But maybe you're worried that Sonic won't be by your side anymore and you think that you won't be able to look out after yourself when he's not around. You're thinking that something like that could happen again."

    "That could be a reasonable explanation," started Tails, "but maybe it's nothing at all and it's just a reminder of what happened all those years ago. Now, I'm going to work on my new invention."

    Amy sighed. "Well, think what you want to think," she said. But Tails already ran to his lab. 

    In his lab, Tails started gathering the materials for his new invention. He planned on making a really cool gift for Sonic, to get his mind off some things. 

    It was a combination of virtual reality helmet, and a treadmill. It was going to be a Virtual Reality Running game. Tails was sure that Sonic would love it.

    An hour had passed already, and Tails was midway finished with his project. He was wearing his wielding helmet while using the wielding laser on a part of his invention, when he heard a knock on the door.

    Tails left his work, and pulled the door open. Amy was standing there with a box in her hands. "Hi Tails. You rushed home quickly and I wanted to see if you were

okay. I also have a box of cookies for you," said Amy holding the box up.

    "I'm fine, and thanks Amy. I really appreciate it," said Tails. He took the box and set it down on a nearby table. Before he could even take a bite out of a chocolate chip cookie, Amy interrupted with a question.

    "Hey Tails, do you realize that there's a fire starting in your lab?"

    "No, there's no- wait, what?"

    Tails dropped the cookie and rushed to the next room, only to see his invention burnt to a crisp. At least the fire was dying out.

    "No!" said Tails. "Oh no. I'm so sorry Tails," said Amy.

    "Its fine Amy. You don't need to apologize. I just need to see where went wrong," said Tails. Then he surveyed his invention. "Hang on, these scorches marks.."

    "What is it Tails?" asked Amy.

    "I think I know what happened. I forgot to turn off the wielding laser. How could I be so dumb? You can't put a.."

    That's when Tails started mumbling to himself, saying complicated things Amy couldn't understand. The thing that was very clear was that Tails made a huge mistake.

    "Tails, stop mourning over your mistake. Its okay. You can start all over and-"

    "No Amy," said Tails barely keeping back sniffles. "I used incredibly hard to get materials to make this gift, so

it would be special for Sonic."

    "So it's for Sonic, oh. Maybe you could make an-"

    "No!" interrupted Tails, "that gift wasn't good enough for Sonic anyway, so he wouldn't enjoy any other things I would make for him."

    "Tails, don't think that. You always try your best and put a lot of hard work into the inventions you make. Don't doubt yourself," said Amy compassionately.

    "That's easy for you to say. Now please leave. I need some time alone."

    Amy, deciding that it would be best if Tails needed time to think, so she left his house, leaving Tails all alone.

Chapter 3: Trouble's a Knocking

    A few hours had passed, and Tails was still going over his invention failure over and over again in his head. 

    It was certainly giving him a headache, so he had to force himself to take his mind off things - and he had to do that somewhere that isn't near or in his lab.

    Tails decided to go for a jog outside and get some fresh air. And while he did, it was very enjoyable.

    His mind was cleared, he was smiling again, and he forgot everything that happened earlier. Well, almost, but it was enough to not put him in a cloud mood.

    Just during the middle of his walk, Tails spotted Dr.

Eggman's dim-witted service robots, Orbot and Cubot on the streets.

    "What are those two up to?" Tails asked himself, because they were acting suspicious. Too suspicious, so Tails hid behind a bush and listened to what they were saying.

    "So, when are we going to do the plan Orbot?" asked Cubot quite loudly.

    "Shh!" said Orbot. "With your constant babbling, we could get caught, and we'll fail the job. We don't want to disappoint Dr. Eggman... again."

    "Oh, I understand," said Cubot, "but just in case, we should get more backup robots in capturing Sonic. You

know how tough it he is."

    At this statement, Tails gasped. Eggman was trying to capture Sonic. Well, he wasn't going to let that happen to his best friend.

    Very quickly and quietly, Tails fled his hiding spot and sprinted away, without the two dumb-bots spotting him. Besides, they were too busy discussing their plan and thanks to Tails' fox hearing, he managed to snag most parts of the plan.

    Its turns out that Eggman was tracking Sonic's location and when the evening came, he was going to send a full robot assault on Sonic. If there's any chance, they'll catch him in a special net and take him to Eggman's base.

    There was no way Tails was going to let them capture Sonic. He decided to get to him first before the robots did, so he started searching for Sonic right away.

    Don't worry Sonic. You'll be alright, thought Tails.

Chapter 4: Its Too Late

    Sonic was resting on a bench, enjoying a chili dog until Tails came running towards him. "Sonic!" he called out.

    "What is it Tails? Is there something wrong?" asked Sonic his mouth full.

    "Eggman's trying to capture you. I overheard his service bots talking about it earlier, so I had to come warn you!"

    "Nah, Egghead's tried to do that several times before and it never works. Maybe you just misheard their conversation," said Sonic. 

    "But I heard the whole plan!" insisted Tails. "Eggman's

been tracking your location, and he's going to send a robot attack."

    "I seriously doubt that and-"

    "Come one, listen to me! Its the evening and the attack could happen at any moment," said Tails.

    "Okay, okay, whatever you say. If Eggman's trying to catch me, I won't let my guard down," said Sonic.

    "Okay.." said Tails, "but just be careful." So when Tails turned to walk away, he heard a yelp and looked behind him. Sonic was captured in a net, and he seemed to be unconscious.

    "Sonic!" called out Tails! But Sonic didn't respond. Only Dr. Eggman came out behind a hiding place along with

two other robots.

    "Eggman! What are you doing here," asked Tails. Then he instantly remembered. "The assault.. but, but, but I thought-"

    "What you heard and thought is unimportant. It was all part of the plan," said Eggman. "I sent my robots to go spying on you, and then they told me that they learned you were going on a little walk outside to get some fresh air.

    "Then I ordered Orbot and Cubot to go near the path you took on your walk and 'discuss' the plot I was going to do, which really wasn't the plan.

    "What I really was doing was tracking Sonic's location,

which actually was a part of the plan, and send two robots to stalk him. I knew you tried to go and warn him, so I decided to capture him when you'd least except it. Genius isn't it?"

    "You won't get away with this!" said Tails. "Oh, but I believe I've already had. Goodbye two-tailed goober!" said Eggman.

    Tails ran after him, but got knocked out by one of the robots by a missile that exploded nearby. "Sonic..." said Tails weakly, before everything went completely dark.

Chapter 5: Its Up to the Fox

    Tails was in the same dream again. The two naughty fox bullies picked, teased, and threw out hurtful comments as how they always did.

    Sooner than he would have excepted, Sonic came running towards them. He was relieved at first, until Eggman came and snatched Sonic in a floating cage that lifted up to the sky.

    Tails tried to fly to rescue him, but he couldn't. When he looked over his shoulder, he saw that the foxes tied his tails with a rope.

    When Tails started to run, his feet were glued to the

ground again, and he couldn't speak either when he tried to call out to Sonic. All he could do was hopelessly stare at sky as Sonic got lifted up higher and higher into the air.

    But the sky didn't normal. It was the bullies peering over him, slowly closing in on him and when they leapt onto Tails, he woke up.

    Tails saw that he was in his home lab lying on a couch with Amy sitting down beside him. "Amy?.." he said slowly, "..what, what happened?"

    "That's what I'd like to know," said Amy looking stern. "I saw you unconscious in the middle of the road earlier. So explain what happened."

    And that's what Tails did. He told her every detail.
