Dedication
This book is lovingly dedicated to all the past students of Moravia Primary School who helped bring our Class Shop to life through their creativity, teamwork, and brilliant ideas.
And to everyone out there seeking inspiration. May this story spark new ideas, encourage hands-on learning, and remind you that big adventures often start in small classrooms.

Once upon a time, in my bright and busy Grade 4 classroom, something truly magical began to grow. It wasn’t a plant, though it certainly blossomed with ideas! It was something even more exciting: our very own Class Shop.
As their teacher, I’m always looking for ways to bring learning to life. One sunny morning, I looked around at my curious, creative students and asked.
“What if we created our very own business right here in our classroom? A place where we could sell things and learn about money,?”
Their eyes lit up instantly.
The room buzzed with excitement as we dove into brainstorming.
What would we sell? How would we make change? Where would the shop even be?
It didn’t take long before the ideas started flowing.
First, we decided what kind of shop we wanted. I watched proudly as students drew pictures, shared ideas, and voted. This became our first big business lesson: how to make decisions together.
Then came the creation phase—my favorite part to watch! The students got incredibly creative. They saved their empty snack bags, stuffed them with paper, and stapled them closed to look like real products.

They even used drink mix, food coloring, and water in recycled bottles to make pretend drinks, sealing them carefully with glue.
Some reused boxes and other packaging materials to design realistic-looking items for our shop. We had a big conversation about how to make our products look appealing to customers, and let me tell you—their creativity amazed me!
Next, we tackled pricing. How much should each item cost? This part was a goldmine for real-world math learning—counting, adding, subtracting, and understanding value.
I saw lightbulbs going off everywhere.
