“Long ago, in the Mountain of Fantasy, there was a school full of witches and wizards, all having special abilities such as mind-reading and much more. Everyone there was very kind, and they all lived peacefully—until a ghost called Chain came. He disturbed the peace and started a war, until a strong wizard lit the Blue Candle and trapped Chain,” said Uncle Jimmy.
“Another chapter! Another chapter!” shouted Minty and her eight brothers.

“Sorry, kids, but it’s time for bed,” said Aunt Marcie.
“Aw, man,” said Minty as she walked into her bedroom.
Minty was a smart, curious girl. She loved visiting her uncle’s house, but what she loved even more was listening to stories about witches and wizards.
“Uncle, please! Just one more page?” asked Minty, halfway up the stairs.
“You can see anything in your dreams, little one,” said Uncle Jimmy, trying to cheer her up.
“Fine,” said Minty, feeling a little annoyed and grumpy.
That night, Minty couldn’t sleep. She was too focused on the story her uncle had told her. She kept guessing the ending, imagining different possibilities—until her thoughts were completely interrupted when a boy on a broom crashed right through her window.
“Wha—what the heck is going on?!” she screamed in confusion and horror.
“Wh-who are you? And why were you on a broomstick?!”
“Oh—ow, ow. Terribly sorry about that,” the boy said, feeling embarrassed.
“Who are you?” asked Minty curiously.
“I’m Dylan,” said the boy. “A wizard found out you were a witch and told me to come get you. But on my way here, I got caught in the middle of a huge hurricane and my broom broke—that’s why I had a crash landing here.”
“So… are you a wizard?!” Minty said in disbelief.
“Yes, I am—and you are one too. That’s why I’m here!” said Dylan with a grin of pride and relief.
“You mean I—I—I have magical powers?!” Minty asked excitedly.
“Yes, you do!” said Dylan happily.
“Is this a dream, or is it real?” asked Minty in disbelief.
“Of course it’s real,” said Dylan, smiling.
“OMG, this is so crazy!” said Minty, feeling very shocked.
“Calm down, calm down,” Dylan said while laughing.
“I should tell Uncle Jimmy and Aunt Marcie,” said Minty.
“You shouldn’t tell anybody about this,” said Dylan s eriously.
“Why not?” asked Minty, frowning.
“We aren’t supposed to be discovered, either!” said Dylan, looking around.
“So you mean I can’t live here?” asked Minty sadly.
Sorry, but that’s what will happen,” said Dylan, feeling a bit sorry for her.
After Minty calmed down, she said to Dylan, “Where do I live if I can’t live here?” asked Minty curiously.
“You will live in the magical school located in the Mountain of Fantasy,” said Dylan happily.
The moment Dylan said Mountain of Fantasy, Minty jumped right up and screamed, “Mountain of Fantasy?! That’s the name of the mountain in the book Uncle Jimmy told us about!”
“Really?” asked Dylan, his mouth wide open.
“Yes, it is,” said Minty.
“Well, let’s talk about it later—hop onto my broom!”
“Are you sure about that? I think your broom is still broken,” said Minty, feeling unsure.
“Oh yeah, you’re right, but I think I can fix it with my wand.” Dylan searched in his pocket and his cloak, but when he finished searching, he had a shy and embarrassed look on his face.
“Um… I-I-I think I forgot it in my room.”
Minty slapped her face and groaned.
“Sorry, but now we have to find another way out,” said Dylan shyly.
“Well, I think we can just climb out of the window,” said Minty, rolling her eyes.
“We can do that, but the only way to get to the school is to go on a broom,” said Dylan hopelessly.
“Then we’re just going to have another crazy landing!” said Minty, feeling scared.
“Yeah, we’ll have to do that,” sighed Dylan.
After they climbed out the window, Minty sat at the back of the broken broom. She inhaled and exhaled before they flew off.
“You ready?” asked Dylan nervously.
“Maybe,” gulped Minty.
“On the count of 3… 2… 1… take off!” shouted Dylan.
In a second, Minty and Dylan were shooting through the sky.
“Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!” screamed Minty in terror as she watched the land below her. She held on tighter to the broom.
After a while Dylan said, “We’re here—ready for a crash?!”
“Huh?” said Minty. She was enjoying herself so much that she had forgotten the broom was broken.
“Well, ready or not, here it comes!” shouted Dylan bravely.
As they dived down to the ground, a miracle happened: one of Dylan’s friends was on his balcony. When he saw
Dylan falling from the sky, he quickly grabbed his wand and stopped the broom in midair.
