Chapter 1
Congress makes laws. It's the Legislative Branch. It has two parts: the House and Senate. They make laws for everyone. To join, you must be an adult (25 for House, 30 for Senate). Representatives serve two years. Seators serve six years. Congress has a superpower: the "elastic Clause." They can make the laws they need.
Article 1

The president leads the country. It's the Executive Branch. They make sure everyone follows the laws. To be President. You must be born in the USA and be 35. You also must live in the country for 14 years. The President is in charge for four years.
Article 2

Courts have judges. It's the Judicial Branch. They make sure laws are fair. If laws are unclear, judges decide what they mean. Presidents pick judges. Judges can stay for life if they do a good job.
Article 3

States should be friends and help each other. If something is okay in one state, other states respect it.
Article 4

Sometimes, rules need to change. This tells how to change the Constitution if most agree.
Article 5

The Constitution is the most important rule book. If a state rule doesn't match, the Constitution wins. This is the "Supremacy Clause."
Article 6

This made the Constitution official. If nine states agreed, everyone followed it!

You can say what you think, believe what you want, write in a newspaper, hang out with friends, and ask grown-ups to make things better.
1st Amendment

Grown-ups have the right to have things to protect themselves.
2nd Amendment
Grown-ups can't make you let soldiers stay at your house.
3rd Amendment



4th Amendment
The police can't look through your stuff without a good reason and permission from a judge.
Example:
The police can't just search your backpack or house without a good reason. They need to ask a judge first, like asking your mom before borrowing your toys.
If you're in trouble, you don't have to say anything that might get you in more trouble, and you get afair chance to explain
5th Amendment

If you're in trouble, you get a quick chance to tell your side of the story.
6th Amendment

If you and someone else don't agree about something, a group of people can help decide what's fair.
Example:
If you and a friend disagree about something worth money, you can have a special someone, like a jury, decide who's right. Like, if you disagree about who owns a toy.
7th Amendment

Grown-ups can't make you pay too much money to get out of trouble, and they can't punish you in a super mean way.
Example:
The punishment has to fit the crime. Grown-ups just can't give you a super long time-out for just coloring on the wall.
8th Amendment

Even if a right isn't written down, it doesn't mean you don't have it.
Example:
You have the right to play even if it's not written down as a rule.
