IDEA CITY

Hi! I’m Bupzy the Bill, and I’m on a big adventure to get home to the Capitol Building  If I make it there, I’ll become a real law!

But if I don’t… I’ll disappear forever.
My journey has seven steps and a few scary monsters along the way!

Every law begins as an idea.
This one came from a group of students who wanted safer schools. Their representative wrote the idea down and that’s how I, Bupzy, was born!

A member of Congress introduces me in the House of Representatives.
Now I’m official! 

Time to face the first challenge the Committee Creature.

The Committee looks at me closely.
They read, review, and sometimes change my words.
If they like me, I move on. If not… I’m gone forever!

Both the House and Senate talk about me.They debate  should I become a law or not?It’s a loud and tough place, but I stay strong!

After the debate, it’s time to vote!
If most people say “Yes”, I pass.
If too many say “No”, I fail.
But today  I made it! On to the next step!

Now I visit the President.
The President can:
 Sign me — I become a law!
 Veto me — I get sent back to Congress.
Bupzy gulps… will the President say yes?
