Deep within the vast, shimmering cosmos of a place we call the "Body-verse," sailed a magnificent, pearly white vessel known as the Genesis Ark. This wasn't just any spaceship; it was a living, breathing starship, the most important vessel in the entire fleet of "Cell-Ships."

Aboard the Genesis Ark lived a bustling crew of tiny, hardworking beings called Cell-nauts. Each Cell-naut had a crucial job, from polishing the solar panels to monitoring the energy core. Their captain was a wise and steady Cell-naut named Captain Nucleus, who resided in the Ark's central command bridge.

I'm Captain Nucleus!

Inside Captain Nucleus’s bridge were the Ark's most precious treasures: long, glowing strands of data crystals known as Chromosomes. These Chromosomes held all the blueprints, mission logs, and survival protocols for the entire Genesis Ark. They contained the very essence of what made the Ark unique and how it operated.

The Genesis Ark had an extraordinary mission: to explore the Body-verse, grow, repair itself, and most importantly, create new life. The entire journey of an Ark, from its birth as a new vessel to its own mission of launching new Arks, was called the Cosmic Cell Cycle. It was an endless, vital adventure!
Most of the time, the Genesis Ark was on a long, peaceful exploration voyage. This was the Ark’s Interphase, its main working and growing phase.

The Ark would expand slightly, taking on energy from cosmic dust and star-light. The Cell-nauts were busy performing daily maintenance, making sure all systems were running perfectly.
They were getting bigger and stronger, preparing for future missions.

We're getting huge!
Some of us are taking longer then others sadly.
This was a super-secret, super-important step! Before the Ark could ever launch new vessels, all its precious Chromosome blueprints had to be perfectly copied. Imagine the main computer meticulously creating an exact, identical backup of every single Chromosome. So, if the Genesis Ark had 46 unique Chromosome blueprints, it would now have 92 copies, all temporarily linked together like identical twin blueprints holding hands.

Let's first follow a regular Genesis Ark, one of the many "Body-Arks" sailing through the Body-verse. This Ark's mission was Mitosis. This was how the Body-verse grew larger, replacing older Arks and repairing any damage. When the Genesis Ark launched new vessels via Mitosis, it needed them to be exact copies of itself.

Imagine our Genesis Ark, having finished its blueprint duplication in Interphase, now has its 46 original Chromosome blueprints, plus their 46 identical copies, all paired up. For our story, let's simplify and say our Ark only had 4 Chromosome blueprints, so after S-phase, it has 8 copies, all paired.

Inside Captain Nucleus’s bridge, the Chromosome blueprints began to condense and coil up tightly. They became much thicker and brighter, easier to manage for launch. The transparent shield around the bridge (the nuclear membrane) began to shimmer and temporarily dissolve, allowing the blueprints to move more freely. Special energy beams, called Spindle Fibers, began to extend from opposite ends of the Ark, like tractor beams powering up.

This was a critical moment! All the paired Chromosome blueprints (each original blueprint with its identical copy, still holding hands) lined up perfectly along the Ark's central launch bay, like vessels preparing for a synchronized orbital maneuver. The Spindle Fiber energy beams securely latched onto each paired blueprint.

"Initiate separation sequence!" announced Captain Nucleus, his voice clear. The Spindle Fiber energy beams pulsed, and with a gentle but firm pull, they separated the paired Chromosome blueprints. One copy of each blueprint was pulled towards one end of the Ark, and its identical twin was pulled to the opposite end. Now, each end of the Ark had a complete set of 4 identical blueprints.

Note: I really couldn't find a better way to show Anaphase with the tools given by Story Jumper.
The separated Chromosome blueprints at each end began to uncoil and settle. New protective shields (like new bridge membranes) started to form around each set of 4 blueprints. Simultaneously, the main Genesis Ark began to pinch inwards at its center, like a cosmic belt tightening around its middle.

Finally, with a gentle hum and a shimmer of light, the original Genesis Ark successfully divided into two brand-new Daughter Arks! Let's call them Genesis Ark-Alpha and Genesis Ark-Beta!
