Trick or treat, smell my feet... That is all I could hear outside on the night I was born. Mama licked us clean and told us how special we were being born on Halloween night.
The house was so quiet, no one was home and nothing was there. Just mama and us. We meowed and purred, we learned to eat and play. We listened to the sounds of leaves blowing outside as winter drew near.
We loved our little home, just my brothers and mama. It felt like the best place in the world. Mama took such good care of us everyday and we just knew how special we were. 4 black kittens born on Halloween night. Binx, Blacky, Bossy, Beans.
One cold day mama told us she needed to go hunting to get our dinner for that night, we knew when mama left that we were to stay inside and be quiet so that noone could find us. We always listen to mama, we did just as she told us to do. But night fell and mama didn't return, no mama, no dinner, just me and my brothers alone in the cold and dark house.
The next day when we woke up, we were worried slower we started to meow and call out for mama. We cried and we cried, days pasted but mama didn't return. I wanted to stay brave for my brothers and I yelled loud and meowed as much as I could trying to get someone's attention. But nothing... We decided it was time to leave the old house and go find mama.
Once the sun went down, we made a plan. We knew we had to stick together As the oldest, Bossy was the leader. Binx was the thinker, Blacky was the sneakiest and Beans was the smallest. We all had a role and we knew we had to work together to survive out here without our mama.

"Mama, are you out here?" Beans cried, scared of the darkness." Come on, Beans", yelled Bossy, we have to move quickly, and stick together. They made their way through the night sniffing and calling for mama cat.
By morning they were exhausted and ready for some food and sleep. They saw a small town just outside the woods and decided to make their way to it, because that is where mama would probably be.
The warm sun felt nice, so they found some small bugs and berries to fill their belly, drank some fresh spring water and laid under a tree for some much needed sleep.
When they woke up they heard a sound coming from the tree, it was a old gray squirrel watching them from above. "Hey there, fella's" said the squirrel. "What are you doing out here all alone?" Bossy, spoke up quickly, we are out to find our mama who left a few days ago and never returned.
