Josh felt drowsy and sluggish as he rolled out of bed. He asked himself, "Why am I so tired?"
Then he recalled that it was Super Activity Day at school today! Josh had only had a Cupcake for breakfast, but he needed Energy!

Josh pulled himself through the hallway at school.
"Are you alright?" Zoey asked.
Josh grumbled, "I'm already tired."
She said, "What did you eat today?"
Josh gave a shrug. "Just a cupcake."
Zoey shook her head. "Your body requires fuel!"

Josh checked at his lunch tray, which had a cookie and fries.
Zoey gestured to the cafeteria poster that displayed a dish that was balanced.
She advised, "Try picking something from each food group."
Josh added grilled chicken, strawberries, and carrots to his fries.
"Much better," Zoey said with a smile.

Zoey stretched and drank water before P.E.
"Why do you do that every time?" Josh asked.
"It's simple," Zoey replied. "When you hydrate and warm up your muscles, they perform better."
Josh immediately felt more awake after repeating her.

Mr. Henrie blew his whistle during P.E.
"Class! Recall that a strong body is the result of both physical exercise and a healthy diet!
Food provides energy, while exercise maintains the health of your heart and muscles.
Josh gave a nod. "Well, my cupcake didn't really help today."

Josh's class went to the science room for a special Super Activity Day session after P.E.
Ms. Nelson displayed a poster with the words "Food = Fuel" on it.
She described how fruits and vegetables maintain the body's strength, proteins aid in muscle repair and carbohydrates provide rapid energy.
"So that's why I'm crashing today," Josh said to Zoey.
Zoey smiled. "Exactly. Your body is similar to a car. For it to operate, the proper fuel is needed.

Josh unpacked his backpack prior to basketball practice.
Normally, he brought snacks, but today he took an apple, some yogurt, and a bottle of water.
Coach Davis grinned. "What an awesome fuel-up snack!"

Josh noticed the difference during drills.
He ran more quickly.
played harder.
enhanced focus.
"Zoey!" he exclaimed. "I'm feeling energized!"
"I told you!" she chuckled. "Fuel is important."

Josh ran, jumped, and sprinted in the last event, the speed obstacle course.
He wasn't worn out.
He wasn't sluggish.
He felt strong.
Movement combined with a healthy diet is his new superpower.

Josh and Zoey made smoothies with Josh's mother after school.
Yogurt, spinach, bananas, and blueberries.
Josh took a drink. "This tastes fantastic. And—is it healthy?
His mother gave a nod. "Delicious can be healthy."
