Introduction
Hello dear reader! You have chosen this book to be your one and only! I suppose you chose to read this book because you wanted to make a comic book! Or you’re just interested in this magnificent book! Anyways, for the introduction I would say you need to plan out how your comic book would look like, one page back you saw the table of contents did you? Mostly, comic books start with a chapter or like the table of contents back there; and there would be chapters with BIG drawings below the title of each chapter. And optional things you would like to add at the end! Maybe like… Bloopers! Or…. How to draw your favourite cartoon characters!
Example!
Starting off
First of all, you would want to choose a type of comic book because there are A LOT of them. But the most common one in my opinion are graphic novels because they are basic and focuses on one story.
Secondly, you would need something to draw on. It’s up to you if you choose offline or online. Both of them are like the same, but I would prefer to start from scratch on a paper and pencil, because it’s better to brainstorm about your comic book so you would know what to do and just copy the ideas that you have wrote into a real comic, online or offline;
Frames
Frames in comics are mostly quadrilaterals, but it doesn’t have to only be a quadrilateral. Take Wings of Fire as an example, one of their graphic novels had a frame shaped like a raindrop from the sky, so that proves that every frame can be in different shape and sizes. But when it comes to other weird shapes, it would mostly appear for special occasions. But below this text it would show you how frames mostly work in comics.
Characters
Now that we know how the comic should look like, let’s focus on one of the important things. Characters! Without them, it would just be a dull book with blank squares in it! And your characters depend on your creativity! So it’s your choice on how it looks like and its personality but on this page, I would give you recommendations and ideas if you want to try!
Anyways, characters in comic books are mostly a mix of genes. Like a hotdog but with horse legs. Or a pickle combined with spatula eyes. You can literally think of anything on your characters! And their hobbies don’t depend on how they look, they can be something WAY more than that. And the best part is if they have SUPERPOWERS!
As you can see on the left, it looks super boy-ish (no offence) but it might as well already give you extraordinary ideas! It doesn’t only need to be elements it can be a funny superpower like big shoes where your character has titanic shoes on their legs once they say a word like “shookey” then they transform. So it also depends on your ideas and creativity!
