Chapter 1:

     The Prophet who said "No"

God spoke to Prophet Jonah (Yonas) and told him to go to Nineveh, a massive city filled with people who had forgotten God's laws. 

 Jonah was afraid and stubborn. He thought, "Why should I help them?" He ran to the harbor and jumped on a ship going the opposite way.

But God is everywhere—in the sky, on the land, and in the deepest parts of the ocean. He sent a mighty wind that shook the ship. 

The sailors were terrified and realized Jonah’s disobedience was the cause. To save the crew, Jonah told them to throw him into the sea. The moment he hit the water, the storm stopped, and a Great Whale swallowed him whole.

                 Chapter 2:

   Three Days in the Deep

Inside the whale, it was dark and quiet. Jonah stayed there for three days and three nights.

The Lesson: In our Church, we remember this as a sign of the Holy Resurrection. Just as Jonah was "buried" in the fish and came out alive, Jesus was in the tomb and rose on the third day

 Jonah prayed with all his heart, promising to obey. God commanded the whale, and it traveled to the shore near Nineveh and spit Jonah out onto the sand.

Jonah walked into the heart of Nineveh. He didn't give a long speech. He simply cried out: "In forty days, Nineveh shall be destroyed!"

                  Chapter 3

The Message of Repentance

Usually, people ignore warnings, but something miracle happened. The words touched the hearts of everyone—from the poorest person to the highest officials. They realized they were lost and needed God’s Nish’ha (repentance).
