Once upon a time, in a place called Darien, GA, there was a dog named Ragnarock.
Well, he didn't think he was a dog. And he was probably correct. Really, he was like some kind of Human mixed with a sunbear that had droopy jowls. But that's a different story.
Raggy lived with his pet humans in this home. He'd moved in about a month ago and wasn't sure what to think. But he knew he was a bit lonely.
Then, in early October, a surprise arrived. Raggy was the first one to know. He smelled her before she arrived! But then, the barking came.
"Bork, Bork, BORRRRk!"
Then Raggy's humans knew, too. One of them rushed outside. Then the other one's pocket made a ding. They looked at a small rectangle before bolting toward the little one's rooms.
Then Raggy heard the words he was waiting for:
"Guys, There's a little puppy outside!"

The little people rushed into the 'living room'. Raggy heard some words coming from the center of the house:
"Omygosh! It's so little!"
"SO CUTE!"
"It looks like a pit bull"
"Can we nickname it sludge?"
"Let's get it some of Raggy's food and some hose water!"
"No! Come back, little doggy!"
"Oop, it's back"
"Yay!"
Raggy whined. I want to meet the new dog! Also, is that my food?
Well, I guess meeting the new dog would have to wait a few minutes.

Raggy knew that his people weren't going to ignore this sad, lost puppy. And he also knew that they had nowhere to keep her. Luckily, their new house had come with a fenced-in backyard, so the dog could stay there for now, under a table with some blankets to sleep. But of course, they needed to figure out a way to find out where she was from. So they arranged a trip to the vet to see if she had a microchip.
Oh no! Raggy fretted endlessly over one tiny possibility. I'm more used to the vet! What if she doesn't like it at all and messes up? I don't want her getting hurt! Raggy had barely seen the dog's face, and he still loved her as if she was his family.
From what Raggy heard, the little dog had done great at the vet! From his human's conversations, he managed to pull out a little bit of information about the dog:
Her name was Bailey.
She was a pit bull dog (As far as they knew)
That was pretty much all Raggy knew. And of course, his people had her owner's phone number as well. And their (old) address. Yes, her owners had moved away without her.
But this raised up another problem: contacting her owners.
Raggy's people called and called. They posted about her online, with her name and everything.
They didn't respond.
Whoever they were, they either didn't want Bailey or didn't care to look.

Found on Macintosh road
Little Blue pit named "Bailey"
If she's yours, call immediately!
Call ___-___-____

Since Raggy's humans couldn't contact her owners, they made sure to post about Bailey EVERYWHERE. They had to make sure to get her a home. But it seemed like everyone they asked just Couldn't.
"Sorry, I'd love to, but my pit bull just died and I'm not sure if my wife's ready for another."
"My husband's afraid of dogs"
"Don't have space..."
"Oh! She's beautiful, but I travel too much. Sorry."
I wish Baillie could have a forever home. Is what they all thought. Raggy wanted her to live here. and so did everyone else. "But can we afford her?" Was the main question.
Raggy's owners knew they needed a better place to keep Bailey. (they had now decided to change the spelling of her name to "Baillie") So they got her a new Kennel! Baillie would sleep in her kennel every day, and stay in it whenever she wasn't outside. Just like how Raggy shared a room with the big people, Baillie would have her own space as well.
It didn't take long for Raggy to notice why he loved Baillie so much. She reminded him of Raggy's friend, Rosie, who he knew when he was little. Rosie had passed away in an accident when she was young, and Raggy missed her more than anything in the world. Baillie made Raggy think of Rosie, and that made him happy. Raggy had to make sure that they kept Baillie. He had to, or his heart would be in thirds instead of halves.
Raggy was pleading at this point. Whenever he saw Baillie out of his window, he leapt over and put his paws up on the window. Baillie made him so happy! Of course, Raggy knew his people noticed this. And that was his goal. If they know I love her, then they can't get rid of her! Then one night he heard his people talking.
"She's so sweet." They whispered. "I just don't know how we could possibly get rid of her. You see how happy she makes the kids. And Raggy. And we've always wanted Raggy to have a dog friend." Then more quietly: "And she reminds me of... of... of Rosie."
"So we won't get rid of her. Christmas is coming up soon. We can get that sweet little doggy a home for the holidays. Besides, I think she and Raggy could really learn to get along. That poor 11-year-old dog needs a friend."
"Ok. Then it's decided. We'll keep her. She'll be part of our family."
Yes, Raggy thought. Just what I wanted. Baillie; my best friend.
