The main idea
Volleyball is a hard sport, involving a lot of practice. There are three main types of hits that most people do in indoor volleyball. Bump, set, & spike. Other not-so-common hits would be tips, and kicks which don't happen a lot. The games usually go to 25, but if you win the second game, then the last one goes to 15. All you have to do to win a point is get the volleyball in one of the lines bordering the court from out, in.

Fun Fact:
Volleyball was first invented in 1895 by William . G
. Morgan.

The Serve
The serve is the most important hit in volleyball. I tis the main reason why you win, or lose, the point. There are two types of serves. One is called an overhand serve, and the other is called an underhand serve. For the overhand, you need to toss your ball high, then swing with all your power, so your hand can go over your head, and to the other side. For the underhand serve, you need to keep the ball in your hand, and swing hard too, but this time under your head and over the net. There is also a serve called the jump serve. Related to the overhand serve, this one's harder to receive. The difference is just jump.

Fun Fact:
Most volleyball players jump
about 300 times each match
that they play.
Tips & Kicks
Have you ever been in a position where you can't bump it, set it, or spike it? Well, tips and kicks are especially good for that, both being allowed for indoor and beach, tips and kicks are good for awkward hits from opposing teams. A tip is kind of like a spike, but way less powerful meant to surprise the opposite team's side. When your tipping, it's usually the third hit. It looks like you come up to spike, but really your just blowing a gentle touch to the ball so it barely goes over, surprising the other team, and making them move quickly. A kick is more of a save, often done by liberos not
to surprise the opposing team, but just to save it, and get it over.

Fun Fact:
Th longest volleyball
match ever recorded was 75 hrs. & 30 min.
Blocks
Blocks are really important in volleyball, because they block spikes from coming to your side. If your coming up to spike the ball and someone blocks it, your side who spiked it still gets three more hits because someone on the opposite side touched it. You have to be careful with blocks though, because no part of your body can touch the net. That's why tips, blocks, and spikes, or really anything that can occur right up to the net is hard because you could easily touch the net, which automatically gives the other team the point.

Fun Fact:
The highest ever spike
was played by a Cuban
reaching 12.5 feet high!
