Today I will tell you the story of a person that enjoys
making simple video games who we will call Edmund. So
when Edmund was young he grew up with the classic
Nintendo games like Contra,The legend of Zelda, and of
course mario bros. Ever since Edmund was young he
strived to become a game developer and make games
of his own and let his imagination fly. When Edmund
was young he thought it would just be oh you come up
with ideas and make a game and its awesome but he
soon figured that was not the case. Edmund starting
learning basic code at the age of 10 and kept improving
his skills all through school and collage. Edmunds game
making start was making a simple flash game on a site
called newgrounds called Gib a 2d puzzle game.

When Edmund made Gib it was the first huge step in
making bigger and better games. But now Edmund had
no ideas all he did was look how Gib was doing and look
at the scores it would get from people. Most of the
feedback was positive but like everything else in the
world there will be the people that will bring you down. It
was hard for Edmund to overcome these kinds of people
and for most people it can bring in stress and anxity but
Edmund never stepped down from his dream. Edmund
still had one problem it was what to make a game about
so he brainstormed until he thought of a idea. Edmund
one day was playing a game called Oddworld Abes
Oydessy witch is a 2d puzzle platformer in a strange and
interesting world. Edmund now had the idea to release a
game inspired by Oddworld

So Edmund was now super excited because he had a
goal and was not sitting there doing nothing.Edmund
worked away to his hearts content until he finally
finished his game called The adventures in Goglin and it
was released on PC for 10$ on August 31 2005. The
adventures of Goglin got positive and mixed reviews
when it came out but for the price it offered around a 5-6
hour expeirence so it was a huge success for a game so
small and simple. While Goglin was doing well Edmund
had a choice either make a sequel or make a whole new
game. Edmund decided on making new game so he could
try something new instead of a 2d puzzle game. But
Edmund wanted time off so for 4 years he vanished and
Goglin was still doing well as PC gaming a things like
Steam got more populer people found out about Goglin.

So the year is 2009 Edmund is now done his break and is
running out of money for the lack of Goglin sales but out
of the blue comes a website called KICKSTARTER.Now
this website allowed Edmund to show off his game and
have people be able to donate if interested so edmund
first needed a idea and needed to build a prototype of his
new game to show off. So Edmund worked for months
until he finished a prototype for a game he called
Spells,Magic, and Lazers or SML for short.SPML was a first
person action game in a fantasy and cyberpunk setting
were you quest around in a huge world and it would be a
first person action alot differant then his last efforts.SML
had a budget of 75,00$ that had to be reached in about 2
months. Now KICKSTARTER can be iffy there are projects
that are funded made and are great then projects funded
and never made

The success and failures of Kickstarter
So Edmund was first worried if his project was gonna get
funded and second he was worried if he could make it.
But the first worry soon went away as after the first
month SML was funded and had another month left to
accept backers so Edmund was funded and could make
more money beyond the point so there was not alot to
worry about. So after the last month SML raised a total
of 120,00$ and was set to release early 2011. So now
Edmund is in a struggle for one main reason and thats
family and friends. Edmund is working so hard he has no
time to be with family and friends as well as they think
that his path and choice of life was not the right one and
they keep on discourgeing him to move forward. But
Edmund knew in himself he was not doing nothing and so
even though people say he should back down he never
did. Edmund then continued SML.
