DRAGONS! (well, kinda)
Deep in the Postojna Cave, lives Olms! For hundreds of years people thought that these amphibians were babies of a dragon living underneath the cave. Crazy right!?

The capitol city of Slovenia, Ljubljana, is guarded by a dragon . There are dragon states everywhere! Even on the bridges and the cities flag! Wow, Slovenia must love their dragons.

Did you know that Slovenia is the only country with the word "LOVE" hidden right in its name? Talk about a "lovely" place. Not funny? Okay.

Slovenia is riddled with castles everywhere! (over 500!) Their most famous "Predjama Castle" is built directly into a cliff side. Strange right?

The Chicken-Shaped Country
Did you know that if you looked at Slovenia on a map, it looks like a chicken? If you ever have trouble finding Slovenia on a globe, look for a country that resembles a chicken.

Slovenia has over 14,000 caves! Some are so massive that they have their own rivers and islands. It's as if there's a secret kingdom under your feet.

"The Emerald River"
Slovenia is home to the famous Soca River. This river is so famous because of the way that it glows emerald green. It almost seems like it belongs in a fairytale.

The Legend of the Zlatorog
The Zlatorog is a magical white mountain goat with golden horns. He protects the high mountains, and people say that he is guarding a hidden treasure.

Forest Kingdom
Over 60% of Slovenia is covered in forests, making it one of the greenest places in Europe!

The Underground Train
The Postojna Cave has the world's only underground double track railway! This railway takes you miles deep into the earth. This railway has been operating for over 140 years now!

A bee Loving Nation
Slovenians love bees so much that they paint their beehives with colorful, funny paintings. They even went so far as to establish their own "World Bee Day".

The World's Oldest Wheel
Did you know that Slovenia is home to the world's oldest wheel. I'm going to guess you didn't. In a marsh near Slovenia's capital, scientists found a wheel from 5,000 years ago! It's the oldest ever found in the world. That's "wheely" crazy! (ok..ok I'll stop)
