A is for American Avocet
The American Avocet is a shorebird, with it's long upturned black bill, black and white patterned wings, and it's blue gray legs.


B is for Bald Eagle
The Bald Eagle is a large bird of prey, who is very strong, and very tough. But don't mess with it's looks, it may be called the "Bald Eagle", but it's actually got a white head.

C is for Cuckoo
The Cuckoo is a bird that is known for its "Coo - Koo" call. And it steals other bird's nests just to raise eggs.
D is for Duck
Ducks have webbed feet, they are great swimmers, and some are wild like the Mallard, and some are tame like the Pekin duck.


E is for Eastern Bluebird
The Eastern Bluebird is omnivorous meaning it feeds both on both plants and insects, plus berries.
F is for Fish Crow
The Fish Crow lives off the Southeastern US and catches fish in its bill.


G is for Goose.
The Goose is a cousin to a duck, but bigger and more short tempered, and they fly south for the winter. My most favorite goose is the Canada Goose.
H is for Hummingbird.
The Hummingbird is small, and can hover with its wings, instead of flying. And they eat nectar from the flowers.

I is for Indigo Bunting.
Indigo Buntings are birds, with blue feathers, and they sing sweetly.

J is for Jay
Jays come in all kinds of species, the Blue Jay, the Canada Jay, and the Steller's Jay.

K is for Kiwi
Kiwis are flightless birds native to Australia, they have long beaks, and small eyes, and a big brown body of feathers.


L is for Loon
Loons are expert swimmers and divers, they eat fish, and are notable for their red eyes, black and white feathers, and their haunting call.

M is for Meadowlark
The Meadowlark is a medium sized bird, that is found across Western and Central North America, they sing a melodious note, and have yellow bellies.

N is for Nightingale
The Nightingale is a small, shy, migratory bird, who sings a beautiful tune, to attract mates.

O is for Oriole
Orioles come in different colors, the males are black with an orange belly, and the females are brown with a yellow belly.

P is for Piping Plover
The Piping Plover is a small, sandy colored shorebird, with orange legs, and a black neck, and is listed as a threatened species.
Q is for Quail
Quails are small, social ground dwelling birds famous for their forward facing plume, and their mother instinct.


R is for Robin
The Robin is a small, common, migratory bird with a rusty red chest and a grayish brown back, and a yellow beak.
