1. Big Five/OCEAN Test

Personality Test Results/Reviews
I find the OCEAN/Big 5 Personality Traits test to be accurate. According to that test, I am more introverted as I got an extroversion score of 33. This is below 50 the neutral threshold, and is relatively low. Allegedly this score means that I am more emotionally and socially reserved. Before taking the test, one of the traits I self-identified as my personality was my reserved nature. Within the extraversion category, this personality test accurately identified and corroborated that. In terms of agreeableness, I believe the test also reflected my personality generally well. I would consider myself more of an ambivert on the spectrum, but on the introverted side. Some of my traits listed included apprehensiveness, however I am also a polite individual. I am respectful in general, but that doesn’t necessarily mean I trust fully or easily all of the time. The OCEAN test provided me with an agreeableness score of 50, with subscores of compassion (69), respectfulness (67), and trust (19). This test reflected my polite and empathetic but simultaneously apprehensive nature. In terms of conscientiousness, I got an overall score of 56. While I am focused and persistent, I have seen that sometimes I find myself procrastinating. This means that my productivity isn’t always as high. I feel a more neutral conscientiousness score reflects my nature well. For negative emotionality, I got a score of 75. I think this is relatively accurate because I would say that I am a sensitive person. Sensitivity was one of the character traits that I listed. I do think that it is higher than I expected because I try to look on the bright side of things in stressful situations.

2. Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)

Personality Test Results/Reviews
According to the MBTI Personality Test, on the Intoversion-Extroversion scale, I am more introverted, however, most of my responses generated a distribution that looks like I am relatively in the middle, or an ambivert. I find that this is extremely accurate because sometimes I feel pretty extroverted, while other times I prefer to be alone. My self-reported trait of “reserved” corroborates my slightly more introverted nature. The next spectrum of the MBTI personality test is Sensing-Intuition. Overall, I find myself to be more of a sensing individual and I fully agree with the test in giving me that result. I tend to be more logical and emphasize practicality and experience over abstract ideas and underlying meanings, which I have never found to be particularly interesting. This category of the test is corroborated by what I believe about my personality. On the Feeling-Thinking scale, I got feeling but I am relatively close to the center. Sometimes I find that my emotions influence my decisions more than pure logic, however I am still logical by nature. This aspect of my personality is reflected by this test category result. The last category of the MBTI Personality Test is Judging-Perceiving. I am a more sensitive and reserved individual, so I agree that I am more perceiving as opposed to judging.

3. Statistical "Which Character" Personality Quiz

Personality Test Results/Reviews
According to the Statistical “Which Character Are You?” Quiz, the character I am most like is Samantha Larusso. Having seen Cobra Kai, I do not believe this personality quiz is accurate or valid because Sam is a lot more social and outgoing compared to myself. We have some similar traits like his femininity scores compared to masculine (I got 89, Sam has a score of 92). However, according to the test, you can see that the Pearson correlation resembles a general linear shape but is not altogether linear. Overall, I feel that we share some similar traits, we do not have similar personalities as a whole, and therefore this personality test is not accurate.

Hello, could you say your name and psychological theory?

I am Sigmund Freud. I believe that we all have an unconsciousness that is the primary, hidden part of your mind storing repressed memories, fears, and desires. I also think that the psyche is divided into the id (instinctual drives), ego (rational component), and superego (moral compass/responsibilities). Additionally, I believe that early childhood experiences significantly impact adult personality.

So how could this relate to me?

Sure! I know one of your biggest pet peeves is slow walkers. When you see a slow walker in the hall, your id would tell you to push them out of the way. Your superego would tell you to be patient and just slow down and wait. Your ego would tell you to politely say excuse me or just walk around them.

Hello, could you say your name and psychological theory?

I am Carl Jung. I believe that our mind has layers beneath our conscious awareness and the unconscious is divided into 2 parts. The personal unconsciousness is unique to you and includes memories that you have forgotten, repressed experiences, hidden fears or desires, and things you once knew but don’t currently think about. Additionally within the personal unconscious are complexes. The collective unconscious is shared by all humans. This includes universal mental templates called archetypes.

So how could this relate to me?

This could relate to you because I would say you have a hero archetype when you want to overcome challenges and achieve goals when you're prepping for internships and college. Past experiences in activities such as Bollywood dance and school that you may not think about every day can shape how you feel confident in certain situations, part of your personal unconscious.

Hello, could you say your name and psychological theory?

I am Alfred Adler. I think that all humans strive to overcome feelings of inferiority. Children develop different personality traits based on how they try to find significance in their family. Birth order creates different psychological experiences. The first born gets full parental attention first and is later "dethroned" when a sibling is born. They tend to be responsible, organized, and rule-following.

The middle child tends to get compared to the older sibling and also competes with the younger sibling. They are competitive, the peacemaker, and social. The youngest child is never "dethroned" and is seen as the "baby" of the family. They tend to be charming, outgoing, creative, and attention-seeking. The only child receives full parental attention and often interacts with more adults. They tend to be mature, perfectionistic, independent, and comfortable alone.

So how could this relate to me?

You have a younger brother and a younger sister, meaning you are the oldest child. You were "dethroned" when your younger brother was born. This made you move from being the center of attention to taking on a more responsible and acheivement-oriented role.

Hello, could you say your name and psychological theory?

I am Abraham Maslow. I believe that people are motivated to grow and become their best selves and I created the hierarchy of needs. The most basic level is psychological needs (food, water, sleep), then is safety (protection and stability), next is love and belonging (friends, family, connection), then is esteem (respect and confidence), and lastly is self-actualization (becoming your full potential).
So how could this relate to me?

First off your physiological needs are met when you eat well, get sleep, and stay healthy. Your safety needs mean feeling secure and stable. Going to a supportive school environment like TJHSST provides support, structure, and education. You get love and belonging from your close friends and family. Esteem needs are met when you feel confident and accomplished. Taking on leadership roles in cardiology club and genetics society helps you feel proud of your achievements. Exploring your interests in medicine and pursuing a career after college can help you get to self-actualization.

I am Carl Rogers. I believe that people are naturally good and have an inner drive to grow, but that growth depends on the environment around them. I also think that self-concept is how you see yourself and it has three parts. First is self image which is how you see yourself, second is your ideal self which is who you want to be, and third is self-esteem which is how much you value yourself. Congruence is when your real self and ideal self are similar. People also grow best in an environment that provides unconditional positive regard, empathy, and authenticity (being honest/genuine).

So how could this relate to me?

This could relate to you because you have an ideal environment to grow in. You get unconditional positive regard from your parents and also authenticity from your friends. You are also very honest with yourself so your self image is not incongruent with your ideal self

Hello, could you say your name and psychological theory?

I am Albert Bandura. I believe that behavior, personal factors (cognition, emotion, and biology), and environmental influences all operate as mutual determinants of each other. This is called reciprocal determinism.

So how could this relate to me?

Sure thing! Last year you had an initial interest in playing lacrosse (cognition), which led to you trying out and joining the JV girls lacrosse team (environment). Being on the team improved your lacrosse skills (behavior), which increased your interest in lacrosse as a sport (cognition).

Hello, could you say your name and psychological theory?

I am Julian Rotter. I think that your locus of control is where you believe control over your life comes from. An internal locus of control means that you believe that your actions determine your outcomes and your success/failure depends mostly on your effort. An external locus of control is when you believe that outcomes are controlled by luck, fate, or other people.

Texting with Major Personality Theorists
So how could this relate to me?

This could relate to you because you have an internal locus of control. You believe that your outcomes are based on your effort. This is why you set study schedules before tests because you think that this effort will pay off in test results.

Zone of Proximal Development
I was in the zone of proximal development when I learned how to ride a bike. I was able to pedal on my own as well as turn the handle bars to control the direction of the bike, however initially my dad would hold the seat when I was riding to help me learn how to balance as that was something I could not do on my own yet. The combination of the things I could do and the things that I could not helped me learn how to ride a bike without training wheels or a parent, on my own.

Ecological Systems Theory: Microsystem
At the microsystem in the ecological systems theory for my personal life and my own social development would be my mom, my dad, my younger brother, my younger sister, my friends, and the teachers that I have had. They directly influenced my development as these people had direct face-to-face interactions with me where we grew supportive and honest relationships. My familial dynamics taught me to be emotionally secure and confident in myself. My relationships with my teachers helped me develop a sense of drive or motivation in school, but also in general. My relationships with my friends taught me how to successfully navigate conflict in a social setting and bond with people both similar and different to me.
