Grassie
In Subland, agriculture is a very important factor to
the economy due to the fact that Subland is such a
new country and that food is important to growth.
Most of Subland's farms can be found near the city
Grassie because of the rich soil, close proximity to the
water (ocean), and lot's of space.

Juvenile Baluble Plants

The biggest farm in Subland is a baluble farm. It is
approxiamately 300 acres and is located just outside
of Grassie.

A baluble is a blue, sweet fruit and is very popular
throughout Subland. Balubles grow inside of very
large pods similar to peas, the fruit found under the
shell. Many people say that balubles are very similar
to apples once removed from their pods. Based on the
farm's close proximity to Grassie, the baluable farm is
considered "big horticulture", or also known as, truck
farming.

Juvenile Baluble Plants

Balubles are typically difficult to harvest because they
grow in trees and are relatively heavy. So, a machine
is used on all commercial baluble farms. Subland
created a machine called a balubaler, which picks and
and shells the fruit. This allows for many acres of
balubles to be harvested with ease, which means more
business for the agriculture industry.

Balubles are grown in Subland because the climate is
ideal for maximum growth. Also, because it is such a
popular plant, but grows slowly, the Subland
government subsidizes any farmer who agrees to
grow balubles.

Subland has many miles of beach, so fish is the main
meat that Sublandians purchase and eat. But, pork is
the second most popular meat in Subland. Pigs are
raised near baluble farms because they will eat the
left over shells and leaves from the harvests.

Produce and livestock are transported to cities all
around Subland by truck. Because balubles are grown
near cities, it does not take long to truck them to
markets and stores, allowing farmers to grow balubles
organically. GMOs are illegal in Subland.
