Science Standard

This book can be taught along with standard K-ESS3-3 to give students real world examples of how they can personally work to improve the environment. 

    Long ago, Ms. Earth was growing, healthy, and happy. Many animals and plants lived together in a friendly balance. Ms. Earth could easily take care of all of the living things, with plenty energy to keep everyone well. 

For billions of years, Ms. Earth had stayed spinning in a joyful rotation, balancing all of her children's needs. She has always been able to make sure all living things can continue to survive and grow.

After years of pants and animals changing over time, humans began to roam the Earth. These people lived a simple lifestyle, surviving off of the land, plants, and animals they had around them. 

Over time, methods and building became stronger, creating a better and easier life for the humans on Earth. 

    As humans grew, so did our understanding of science and construction. After 300,000 years of survival, the industrial revolution came about and made our machines, factories, and building much more efficient. 

    Unfortunately, it did not take long for these changes to begin hurting Ms. Earth, leaving her feeling sick and sad. 

Luckily, there are some ways we can ALL help Ms. Earth feel better.

Lets learn some ways to love Ms. Earth!

Do not throw trash on the ground or let it blow away, instead --

Hold onto it until you can reach a place to throw it away in the trash or recycle bin. Ms. Earth is not your trash can! Keeping rubbish off the ground help keep Ms. Earth healthy and clean.
