There once was a girl who didn’t speak loudly—but she listened deeply.
While others filled the room with noise, she noticed the quiet things. The spaces between words. The way someone’s voice trembled when they said they were “fine.”
Her name was Lila, and she collected words the way others collected treasures.

Lila believed words were not just sounds.
They were alive.
Some glowed softly when spoken with kindness. Others felt heavy, like stones dropped into still water.
And some… disappeared completely.

At school, students rushed through conversations.
“Whatever.”
“I don’t care.”
“It’s stupid.”
Lila felt those words fall to the ground like broken glass. No one else seemed to notice—but she did.

One afternoon, while sitting quietly in the library, Lila saw something strange.
A word slipped out of a boy’s mouth—
“hopeless”—
and instead of fading away, it floated in the air… then drifted toward the back of the room.
Lila stood up slowly.
Her heart raced as she followed the word through rows of bookshelves.
It disappeared behind a tall, dusty shelf labeled:
“Language and Meaning.”

When she stepped behind it, the world changed.
The library was gone.
In its place stood a vast forest, filled with glowing letters drifting through the air like fireflies.

“This is the Forest of Lost Words,” a quiet voice said.
Lila turned and saw an older woman with kind eyes.
“Words come here when people stop using them—or use them carelessly.”

Lila reached out and touched a glowing word: hope.
It flickered. Weak.
“Why is it fading?” she asked.
“Because fewer people are speaking it… and fewer still are believing it.”
Determined, Lila continued deeper into the forest.
Soon, she heard rushing water.
A river stretched before her—but the words above it twisted and shifted, changing shape constantly.
"This is the River of Misunderstood Meaning,” the woman explained.
“Here, words lose their original meaning and become something new.”
Lila watched as words like lit, gas, and bae floated by.
