Lily stood at the edge of the high diving board, her toes curled tightly over the rough surface.

The pool below shimmered in the sunlight, but to her, it looked a million miles away.

She had climbed the ladder slowly, step by step, telling herself she could do it.

Her heart pounded loudly in her chest, and her hands felt shaky.

But now that she was at the top, she wasn’t so sure anymore.
