Hi there! I'm so excited to tell you a story about a super special scientist named Marie Curie. She was a real-life superhero who loved to discover new things about the world!

When Marie was a little girl, she lived in a country called Poland. She was always asking "Why?" and "How?" She loved to learn and read lots and lots of books. She was super curious about everything!

In those days, it was tricky for girls to go to big universities. But Marie had a big dream. She wanted to be a scientist and make amazing discoveries! She worked very hard to learn as much as she could.

Marie saved up her money and moved all the way to Paris, a beautiful city in France. She went to a famous school called the Sorbonne, where she studied hard and learned even more about science!

In Paris, Marie met a wonderful scientist named Pierre Curie. They fell in love and got married! Together, they made a fantastic science team, ready to explore the mysteries of the universe.

Marie and Pierre were very interested in special rocks that gave off a strange, invisible energy. They called this energy "radioactivity." It was like the rocks had a secret glow!

To study these glow rocks, they had to do a lot of work! They used a big, old shed as their laboratory. It was cold in the winter and hot in the summer, but they didn't give up.

After tons of hard work, they discovered two brand new elements! They named one Polonium after Marie's home country, Poland. The other was called Radium, because it was so shiny and glowy!

Radium was amazing! It glowed all by itself, even in the dark. It was like magic, but it was real science! This glow stuff could do many things, and Marie and Pierre were excited to learn more.

Because of their incredible discoveries, Marie and Pierre won a very important award called the Nobel Prize! They were the first people to win it for science together. Wow!

Sadly, one day, Pierre had a terrible accident and passed away. Marie was very, very sad, but she knew Pierre would want her to keep exploring and discovering.

Marie was so strong! She took over Pierre's job as a professor at the university. She was the first woman ever to be a professor there! She kept working hard to learn about radioactivity.
