The voting rights act of 1965 was what everyone was talking about and it was about giving everyone equal voting rights to make sure it was fair.

My momma told me this made it so the states couldn’t deny the right to vote based on the person's skin color.

She told me the act was passed because there were people getting hurt and treated unfairly.
