Mateo is in kindergarten, sitting at a small table in his classroom. He is working on an arts and crafts project, carefully cutting paper and using glue. Around him, his classmates are laughing and talking. Mateo smiles, but he is still learning English and does not understand everything yet.

One day, his teacher calls his name "Mateo, come with me," she says kindly. Mateo walks down the hallway to Room 17. Inside, a lady greets him and gives him a test. Mateo feels confused, but he listens carefully and tries his best

As Mateo moves through school, he continues learning English. Some words are difficult, and sometimes he does not understand his lessons. Reading feels slow, and writing is not easy. There are moments when Mateo feels unsure of himself, but he keeps going.

Mateo begins to practice more every day. At school, his teachers help him sound out words and build sentences. At home, his family reads with him and encourages him. Little by little, Mateo starts to understand more than before.

As time passes, Mateo becomes more confident. He begins raising his hand in class to share his ideas. He speaks more with his classmates and is not as afraid to make mistakes. Mateo starts to feel proud of himself and his progress

When Mateo enters middle school, the work becomes harder. There are longer readings, bigger assignments, and new challenges. Some days feel overwhelming, and Mateo feels frustrated again. But he remembers how far he has come and refuses to give up
