Golden Freddy is one of the most mysterious animatronics in all of Five Nights at Freddy's (FNAF). First appearing in FNAF, Golden Freddy was one of the few easter eggs that were introduced in FNAF. A poster of Freddy could change to his face. If you input 1\9\8\7 on the Custom Night, then Golden Freddy could appear. But... who or what is he? I have a lot of theories about this. Read on to learn more about 

GOLDEN FREDDY

Theory #1: Golden Freddy was a springlock suit. Springlock suits could be worn by people as costumes,

and they could be animatronics. But, the smallest amount of moisture could trip the locks, and metal would be driven into your skin, instantly killing the occupant. Yeah.... that wouldn't be fun. Golden Freddy might actually be a Fredbear springlock, but since he only has four fingers, that would be awkward for a human occupant.

FREDBEAR: ONLY FOUR FINGERS

I still haven't fully discredited this theory, though. Maybe there was a space where a human could fit two fingers? Maybe. But, Golden Freddy has many similarities to Fredbear. A, they're the same color. B, if you look at the hat, there is a tinge of purple to it. Maybe the reason why it looks so black is because the suit might've been rotting for a while, similar to Springtrap.

Golden Freddy is always in a slumped position, which may be the result of a tripped springlock suit after a while. In one of the FNAF 3 minigames, you can see Springtrap in a slumped position, hinting that the occupant, Purple Guy,

tripped the locks. At the time when FNAF 3 was released, people didn't know Springtrap and Purple Guy were the same people. Spoilers: In the novel trilogy (I finished them, it was really good), Springtrap aka William Afton dies when one of his creations (a mutation between the original FNAF animatronics) throw him into the fire. Maybe the slightest bit of any element (Fire, water, etc) can trip the locks. Also from the novels: a kid named Micheal possessed Golden Freddy. But in the games, a GIRL, yes, a girl, possesses Golden Freddy. Her name is Cassidy. You're probably wondering why I'm making such a big deal about a girl possessing Golden Freddy, but Golden Freddy is a boy. But hey, Cassidy was stuffed into the suits by William Afton, who had absolutely no

boundaries when it came to this thing, so I wouldn't be surprised. Anyway, coming back to the FNAF 3 minigame of Springtrap in a slumped position, may hint that Springtrap was left rotting for years until he came back. 

FROM THE FNAF 3 MINIGAME

Technically, it's not possible for someone to survive a springlock failure, and, judging by what happens, that's not hard to believe. But somehow, William Afton survived it. That also may be why Springtrap is sitting in a pool of blood (opposite page). So, my theory is that IF Golden Freddy was originally a Fredbear springlock suit, then either Cassidy or Micheal were stuffed into it and tripped the springlocks....or someone else did. Fun fact: The Crying Child, otherwise known as Evan Afton, is also believed by some to possess Golden Freddy, or sort of 'share' Golden Freddy with Cassidy.

Theory #2: Golden Freddy was a ghost. So, the theory about Golden Freddy being a ghost is one I have mostly discredited, for various reasons.

A random intervals in the first FNAF, flashes of 'IT'S ME' with the faces of different animatronics from that particular game, alongside with it. In the first book of the trilogy, called 'The Silver Eyes', one of the main protagonists, Carlton, sees the Golden Freddy suit, and the Golden Freddy suit says 'It's me' to him. This could mean that Micheal is trying to tell Carlton that it's him in the suit, or it could be Golden Freddy confessing that he was the culprit of the Bite of '87. Probably door number 1. Some people, like the author Yenndo, think that Golden Freddy is a mystical being that can change it's form and is a ghost. Unfortunately for Yenndo, that theory is wrong. I don't think that Golden Freddy is a ghost at all.

Theory #3: Golden Freddy is a normal animatronic.

So, what if everything I just said is fake, and Golden Freddy is a normal animatronic that decayed over time? That theory is probably wrong. So, one of the reasons why I theorized this, is because that Golden Freddy only has four fingers, whereas most springlock suits have five (for the occupant). Maybe Golden Freddy was Fredbear, since they share many similarities, and Fredbear just decayed after a while. Fredbear is confirmed to be the culprit of the Bite of '83, which I will explain right now. So, in the primary FNAF 4 gameplay, you play as Micheal Afton, but in the minigames you play as a kid named Evan Afton who is Micheal's younger brother. Micheal is always bullying and being mean to Evan.

In the Night 5 end minigame of FNAF 4, you watch a sequence of 8-bit mechanics: Evan is being teased and bullied by Micheal and his friends, who are all dressed in animatronic masks. They throw him into Fredbear's mouth, who at the time, is an animatronic hinting that Fredbear may be a springlock suit that is in animatronic mode. Fredbear bites down on Evan's head with a sickening CRUNCH. That may be why there is a vase of flowers, and an IV on Micheal's bedside table. It was later revealed that Micheal felt deeply guilty for his brother's death, and for all the pain and misery Micheal had caused him. Evan is the victim of the Bite of '83, and Fredbear is the culprit. I think Fazbear Entertainment got sued by different people, and they were

forced to scrap Fredbear, which may be the reason why he's so decayed.

Later, on the Night 6 end minigame, you are crouching on the ground with a Fredbear plush, who was introduced in the minigame before Night 1.

THE BITE OF '83

In the Night 6 end minigame, Fredbear says the following: ''You're broken.... We are still your friends. Do you believe that? I'm still here.... I will put you back together.'' The sound of a heart monitor flattening is heard in the background.

So yeah, that's the theory of Golden Freddy being a normal Fredbear animatronic, decayed by the ages.

Theory #4: Golden Freddy is a hallucination. This theory is the least likely, which is why I saved it for last. If you don't understand that, go figure. So, the first time hallucinations are introduced, it's FNAF 2. You can see the hallucinations of most of the animatronics. But the hallucinated animatronics don't really take center stage until FNAF 3. Every animatronic in that game is a hallucination, except for Springtrap. A rare hallucination known as Phantom Golden Freddy can appear in the office of FNAF 3. It is super rare, so don't go crying to Mommy if you don't get it.

So, at least we know for sure that Golden Freddy is a hallucination in FNAF 3. Also, Phantom Golden Freddy can appear as a crumpled suit on the right of your basic screen.

GOLDEN FREDDY HALLUCINATION

The thought of Golden Freddy being a hallucination in FNAF 1 is a little hard to believe. Why? Well, Golden Freddy would be the only hallucination besides the words It's Me.. Now, in FNAF 2, where at the end of nights 2-4, you have hallucinations. It makes a little easier to believe. Not a lot, just a little.

Now that we know what Golden Freddy is, let's explore his lore. Read on to find more about

GOLDEN FREDDY!!!!!!!

One thing I love about FNAF is the expansive lore. There's so much. Golden Freddy is one of the characters that are so mysterious and have players wondering about them for ages. Who is he? If you read all of my other theories, then you would be able to choose your own. But if you didn't.... that's your fault. Waah, yeah cry. I don't care (just kidding, I do, I'm sorry). If you didn't want to read all of the theories, then we'll go with my first theory: Golden Freddy was a springlock suit. That's not as important right now, because we're discussing lore, not theories. So, some fans say that both Cassidy and Evan (bite victim of the Bite of '87) possess the Golden Freddy spirit. I don't know about that. Cassidy was killed by good ol' William

Afton in 1985, but Evan was killed in 1983, hence the name, The Bite of '83. Fredbear's Family Diner was founded around '83, which means if the theory about Golden Freddy being an old Fredbear springlock suit is correct, then Golden Freddy was probably stuffed with Cassidy and Evan around 1993, which is when Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria, and Circus Baby's Pizza World were founded. If you got that all, congrats! If you didn't, oh well. My theory is that Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria (FFP) was built over the ruins of Fredbear's Family Diner. And the Fredbear suit was left to rot, so that's why it is crumpled. And, later, Purple Guy found the old Fredbear springlock suit that had crumpled, so he stuffed Cassidy and or Evan

inside it. Make sense? To make things more simpler, let's list out the first five games (The Core Collection) in order.

1. FIVE NIGHTS  AT FREDDY'S 4 (1983, DUE TO THE BITE OF '83 AND THE TV SHOW RELEASE DATES IN THE GAME

2. FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY'S 2 (1987, DUE TO THE BITE OF '87 WHICH MANGLE IS THE CULPRIT OF)

3. FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY'S (1993)

4. FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY'S SISTER LOCATION (LATE 1993 THE SISTER LOCATION TO FREDDY FAZBEAR'S)

5. FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY'S 3 (2023, SET THIRTY YEARS AFTER 'THE HORRIBLE EVENTS AT THE OLD LOCATION')

Okay, so Cassidy and Evan both possessing Golden Freddy is still a possibility. Evan died in 1983, in the Bite

of '83, then two years later in '85 was when Cassidy died. Then maybe around 1990 Purple Guy stuffed them into the suit. Maybe. Most fans believe that it's Cassidy who possesses Golden Freddy, and I'm one of those fans. Why? Well, in Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator the names of the original five kids who were murdered by our old friend William Afton were revealed. Their names were Gabriel (Freddy), Susie (Chica), Fritz (Foxy), and Jeremy (Bonnie). Later, it was revealed that Charlotte Emily (we'll get to her later) possessed the Puppet. Cassidy's name was on the fifth tombstone in Pizzeria Simulator, so fans linked her to Golden Freddy (who else would she be?). Maybe she is... Spring Bonnie? Nah. Anyway, 

I personally think that Golden Freddy is possessed by Cassidy and not Evan. What are we waiting for? Let's explore some of Golden Freddy's easter eggs. Read on to find out about the easter eggs of 

GOLDEN FREDDY 

Easter Egg 1: Golden Freddy's Poster (FNAF 1)

You have a very rare chance of the Freddy poster on cam 2B.

To activate this, the player must enter 1\9\8\7 in the custom night, which means 1 for Freddy, 9 for Bonnie, 8 for Chica, and 7 for Foxy. This will NOT activate the actual Golden Freddy animatronic, but will turn the poster to Golden Freddy. Golden Freddy was first known as Yellow Bear, as seen in the game's original kickstarter.

Easter Egg 2: It's Me Hallucinations (FNAF 1)

At any given moment, players can see flashes of IT'S ME with faces of the animatronics. This, is our only hallucination in FNAF 1. This interval is not that rare, it's actually common. 

Easter Egg 3: Golden Freddy Appearing 

Yes, Golden Freddy has a SUPER small chance of 

appearing in the office, before or after the player sees the Golden Freddy poster. The key to success here is to turn on the monitor as soon as possible to avoid the game crashing or freezing. He will appear in a slumped position, like always:

Don't get your hopes up, there is a 1 in a 100000 chance that Golden Freddy will appear like that.

Easter Egg 4: Withered Golden Freddy

Since he has a good chance of appearing on Nights 6-7, Withered Golden Freddy is kind of NOT an easter egg. I'll still include him though, just for kicks. Withered Golden Freddy can appear in the Office or Main Hall. Golden Freddy was already pretty messed up, due to being slumped for too long. Withered Golden Freddy has black spots, and wires sticking out of his body. His fur is more faded as well. Withered Golden Freddy can appear on any night, but has a better chance of appearing on Nights 6-7, as I said.

Easter Egg 5: Shadow Freddy/Golden Freddy

In FNAF 2, if all the animatronics have left the Parts and Service room, than Shadow Golden Freddy may appear.

I know we already talked about this, but he counts! Phantom Golden Freddy can appear as a crumpled suit in the right area of your basic screen in FNAF 3. He seems to be unoccupied.... physically...

Easter Egg 7: Fredbear's Jumpscare

In FNAF Ultimate Custom Night, setting Golden Freddy to one and setting all the others to zero will activate Fredbear. The trick is to use the Death Coin when Golden

Freddy is in the office, putting on the Freddy mask, and that will trigger a unique Fredbear jumpscare.

Easter Egg 8: TOYSHK

In Ultimate Custom Night, players have reported seeing a child's smiling face at random intervals in the game. Also, some of the animatronics' death lines say The One You

FREDBEAR UCN JUMPSCARE

Shouldn't Have Killed. This refers to the vengeful spirit of Cassidy inside Golden Freddy. This may hint that the player is William Afton, since he killed most of the kids.

Easter Egg 9: No Endoskeleton

In FNAF, most of the animatronics have endoskeletons, which help them stand up. Golden Freddy seems not to have one, so if he was the Fredbear springlock, what happened to the endoskeleton? I have a theory about that. The springlocks maybe were never tripped, and maybe the Fredbear suit was a really good one, and that's why he doesn't have an endoskeleton.
