Sajad was seventeen years old, born in Afghanistan, and raised with memories of a homeland filled with both beauty and struggle. Even as a child, he sensed that life would take him far from where he started, but he never imagined how many borders he would cross or how much strength he would need along the way.

When he was still young, his family left Afghanistan and moved to Turkey, searching for safety and a chance at a better life. Sajad didn’t fully understand the reasons, but he felt the fear, the hope, and the determination in his mother’s eyes as they stepped into a new world.

Turkey became the place where Sajad grew up, spending twelve long years learning the language, the culture, and the rhythm of life there. It wasn’t always easy, but those years shaped him, teaching him resilience, patience, and the ability to adapt to anything.

Even after so many years in Turkey, Sajad often felt caught between two worlds — not fully Afghan anymore, but not fully Turkish either. That feeling of being “in between” pushed him to grow stronger and more independent, preparing him for the next chapter of his life.

When the time came to leave Turkey and move to America, Sajad felt a mix of excitement and sadness. He was leaving behind the place where he had grown up, but he was also stepping toward a future filled with possibilities he had only dreamed about.

Starting 11th grade in a new country was one of the hardest challenges he had ever faced, but he pushed himself to learn, to adapt, and to understand the culture around him. Slowly, he began to find his place in the classroom and in the community.

As months passed, Sajad’s English improved, and he started speaking more confidently, participating in class, and expressing his ideas. Teachers noticed his effort, and classmates began to see him not as the new kid, but as someone strong and determined.

Sajad often thought about Afghanistan and Turkey, carrying both places in his heart. His culture, his memories, and his experiences made him unique — a blend of three worlds that shaped him into someone stronger than he realized.
